Angela Simmons breaks silence on the death of ex-fiance who was fatally shot in Atlanta
Angela Simmons finally broke her silence on the death of her ex-fiancé, and it’s utterly heartbreaking. Recent reports also reveal what the tragedy will mean for Simmons and her child.
Taking to Instagram on November 4, the daughter of Run-DMC’s Rev. Run, paid tribute to the late Sutton Tennyson with a series of throwback photos and videos.
Tennyson was shot outside of a home in Atlanta last weekend and Simmons, 31, confessed that she’s “hurting” from the sudden tragedy.
Alongside a photo of Tennyson holding their two-year-old son, Sutton Joseph, Simmons wrote:
“Thank you for leaving behind my greatest gift. I’m hurting. I’m numb. Thank you for the out pouring of love everyone. I cant believe I’m even saying Rest In Peace Sutton. I promise to hold SJ down in every way I promise.”
Simmons also shared romantic photos of her and Tennyson when they were together, another of their small family sharing a private moment, and a video of Sutton doing baby talk while his father carried him on his shoulders.
Another heart-wrenching post was a clip of Sutton replaying a video of his dad. Unaware of the tragedy that had just struck, Sutton laughed freely, probably reliving the particular moment when he had fun with his father.
“Reflecting,” Simmons wrote. “He keeps replaying it. RIP Sutton.”
LOVE FROM HER FANS
There has been an outpouring of love for Simmons from fans on social media as she goes through the tough time.
One Instagram user commented:
“Ugh...my heart is shattered. Just the thought of baby having no clue how his lil life just dramatically changed. God bless y'all.”
“This just breaks my heart. I will keep you and your family in my prayers,” promised another.
THE MURDER
Tennyson, 37, was found lifeless inside an open garage on November 3. Police investigations revealed that he had earlier gotten into a fight with another man who shot at him several times.
A police statement to Fox News revealed: “The suspect sped from the scene in a car.”
LOVE FROM HER COLLEAGUES
Datari Turner, the creator and executive producer of “Growing Up Hip Hop” in which Simmons stars, also spoke to E! News about the tragedy, saying:
"We obviously are deeply saddened by Angela's loss. I heard the news yesterday and immediately reached out to Angela. She will have all the support from me and the rest of our team that she needs, and she already has a great support system with her family."
WHAT THIS MEANS FOR SIMMONS AND HER SON
Simmons and Tennyson began dating in 2015 and were engaged a year later. They welcomed their son, Sutton Jr. in September 2016. By late 2017, Simmons announced the end of their engagement and her single mother status on Instagram.
Meanwhile, TMZ reports that the unfortunate incident brings an end to Tennyson’s child custody case with Simmons. The reality star will get sole custody of their child.
