Story of pregnant dog who was abandoned when her family moved still touches people's hearts
A pregnant dog named Marie was abandoned in the front of a house in Costa Rica with no food or water, something that could have killed her if a neighbor wouldn’t have intervened.
Once the neighbor found Marie, they took some photos of her and posted them online to see if someone was willing to adopt her. After a while, the good Samaritan contacted Tania Cappelluti.
This woman moved from Germany to Costa Rica several years ago to start a yoga retreat. Apart from that, she created Charlie’s Angels Animal Rescue Costa Rica and stayed in the country.
LOOKING FOR HELP
The neighbor told Cappelluti that Marie’s family left the house and, unfortunately, didn’t take the dog with them although she was pregnant. Marie, who probably couldn’t believe that her family had abandoned her, sat day and night in front of the house waiting for her owners to come back for her.
A FAMILY STEPPING IN
When she learned Marie’s story, Cappelluti did her best to find a new family willing to take care of her. Thankfully, Wynn Mackey stepped in and temporarily took care of Marie so she could spend her remaining pregnant days as good as possible.
A couple of days after that, the dog gave birth to seven healthy puppies. Marie’s story didn’t end there as a family contacted Cappelluti and told her that they wanted to adopt her, something unusual as most people prefer taking puppies.
THE OUTCOME
Fortunately, Cappelluti managed to find a loving home for each puppy soon after they were old enough to leave their mother, so what started as an awful experience for a pregnant dog ended up as an example of strength and love.
ANOTHER STORY ABOUT AN ABANDONED PREGNANT DOG
Even though abandoning pets is one of the worst things that a person could do, Marie is not the only dog who experienced that. Claire is a chihuahua who was also pregnant and left alone soon before giving birth.
Kathryn Sinske saw her photo online and quickly went to the animal shelter in San Bernardino, California, to take her home. Soon after Claire felt comfortable enough in her new house, she gave birth.
