Kimora Lee Simmons pictured crying at the home of close friend Kim Porter following sudden death
Fashion entrepreneur and former model, Kimora Lee Simmons, was pictured crying yesterday outside the home of her late friend, Kim Porter as the latter was wheeled away by the coroner.
Simmons could not help her emotions as she stood in the late Porter’s garage with other grieving loved ones. Her relationship with Porter went beyond being fellow runway models, as the deceased was one of the bridesmaids at her first wedding to Russell Simmons in 1998.
Simmons shared a throwback tweet as a tribute to her late friend. The picture shows Porter smiling next to Tyra Banks and other bridesmaids in identical purple outfits.
THE TRAGEDY
Porter died on Thursday at her California home at the age of 47. Cause of death is not yet ascertained, but TMZ reports that the former model and actress had been suffering flu-like symptoms and possibly pneumonia for several weeks.
PORTER AND DIDDY
Porter dated music mogul, Sean “Diddy” Combs for 13 years and the pair have three children, 20-year-old son Christian, and 11-year-old twin girls, Jessie James and D'Lila. Porter also had a 27-year-old son, Quincy, from her relationship with music producer Al B. Sure.
Porter and Diddy’s relationship was mostly tumultuous, but after their final break-up in 2007, the pair remained friends and were successfully co-parenting their children.
DIDDY'S HEARTBREAK
A source revealed to People that the “Bad Boy Entertainment” boss was heartbroken over the death of Porter.
“Diddy is devastated and shocked. He and Kim were still very close friends and co-parents even though their romantic relationship didn’t work. They were still a family.”
FRIENDLY EXES
During her lifetime, Porter had described the cordial relationship between her and Diddy, saying:
"We may be apart, but we'll always be together as a family. It's not a situation where two people break up and they can't stand each other. We're still friends so it makes for an easy breakup."
The pair was last spotted together in October with the entire family to support the premiere of Quincy's film “The Holiday Calendar.”
"SO MANY WILL BE AFFECTED BY THIS"
Since news broke of Porter’s sudden death, condolence messages have been pouring in from celebrities on social media.
Rihanna wrote:
“We lost a real one today, beautiful inside and out. So many will be affected by this, some won’t even know why...but the whole world was graced by the vibrance in your spirit. My deepest condolences to the ones that were blessed enough to know, meet, and love her! Such a special soul man! This don’t even feel real! May God comfort and protect her children and loved ones!”
Kevin Hart also said prayers for the grieving family and reached out to Diddy:
“RIP Kim....Your were a beautiful person inside and out. My prayers go out to the entire family. @diddy you & your family are loved by so many...You are God's child and he will see u and ur entire family thru this. Stay strong man....Nothing but love for u.”
Viola Davis shared her reaction to the sad news. “RIP Kim Porter!” she wrote on Twitter. “My heart breaks for your beautiful children and family.”
