P. Diddy reportedly 'devastated and shocked' after ex-girlfriend Kim Porter passes away at only 47
Sean “Diddy” Combs just lost his ex-girlfriend and mother of three of his kids, and the music executive is said to be heartbroken.
A source told PEOPLE:
“Diddy is devastated and shocked. He and Kim were still very close friends and co-parents even though their romantic relationship didn’t work. They were still a family.”
Kim Porter, who was a model and actress, was found dead in her California home yesterday. She was 47.
According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office, they responded to a death investigation in Toluca Lake at 11:40 am. They found an unresponsive female at the residence and Porter was pronounced dead immediately.
There is no apparent cause of death yet. While TMZ reported an emergency dispatch call that came in as cardiac arrest, another source claimed Porter had been suffering from flu-like symptoms and possibly pneumonia for weeks.
CELEBRITIES MOURN
Among those who have taken to social media with condolences are 50 Cent, Missy Elliott, Rihanna, Kevin Hart, and Viola Davis. 50 referred to Porter as Diddy’s “soul mate” and left a word for the “Bad Boy Entertainment” boss.
“R.I.P to Kim Porter, I send my condolences to her friends and family. She was loved and will be missed dearly. I know Puff is hit right now, he loved her for real, soul mate type [expletive]. Chin up puff, Positive vibes only.”
Missy Elliott sent a prayer to the grieving family: “This is so heartbreaking. Lord, please give her kids & her whole family strength.”
Talk show host, Wendy Williams also said:
“I just heard the sad news about Kim Porter. My condolences to Diddy and Kim's families. Rest In Peace.”
THEIR LOVE STORY
Porter and Diddy began dating in the ‘90s and welcomed their first son, Christian Casey Combs, in 1998. Their twin girls, D’Lila Star and Jessie James, were born in 2006. Porter also had an older son, Quincy Brown, 27, from a previous relationship with music producer Al B. Sure.
Diddy and Porter’s relationship troubles played out publicly, and the pair was on and off for almost a decade. They first broke up in 1999 and Diddy dated Jennifer Lopez for two years before they reconciled in 2003.
Four years later, Porter left Diddy finally after she found out the entertainment mogul was expecting a daughter with another woman.
FRIENDS FOR LIFE
Despite all these, Porter and Diddy remained cordial throughout the years. “We’re friends. I’m the person he can tell his innermost thoughts to, and he’s that person for me. He still calls me every day, and we talk,” Porter told Essence when she was alive.
Only a few days ago, the late runway star shared an Instagram photo of Diddy surrounded by his children and captioned it: “Love.”
Diddy also confirmed their cordial relationship to PEOPLE, saying:
“I’ve been truly blessed to have some great, incredible relationships that have afforded me these children by these very strong, intelligent, beautiful black women. The mothers of my children [are] my best friends. My hat goes off to them.”
Our hearts and prayers are with the family and friends of Porter during this difficult time.
