Has it only been one year since Serena Williams wed Alexis Ohanian? It is according to their recent posts where they paid tribute to their first year anniversary.
STILL DANCING AFTER A YEAR
A year ago, the Reddit co-founder and the tennis superstar tied the knot in a romantic ‘Beauty and the Beast’-themed wedding in New Orleans. And to mark their first year milestone, Alexis shared a never-before-seen photo of the couple dancing on their wedding day. The pic set in black-and-white features Serena in a tutu-like dress and she appears to be spinning when the photo was snapped. The newlyweds have their backs turned to the camera as Alexis looks at his wife in the midst of performing his routine.
“365 days later. And still dancing,” he lovingly wrote to caption the photo. He added,
“Only now Jr. joins in. Happy anniversary, my queen. Here’s to many, many more.”
THEIR ADVENTURE PRINCESS
Jr. is the couple’s daughter, Olympia who just turned one in September. On her birthday, Alexis posted an adorable photo of her and gushed about her presence in their lives.
“1 year ago today, you changed our lives forever, @olympiaohanian my adventure princess.”
The little girl has been a source of joy for the pair who even devoted an Instagram account just for her. Fans have been constantly updated on her day to day activities through the social media page.
BEDTIME GREETING
Meanwhile, Serena didn’t let her anniversary pass without responding to her sweet husband’s greeting. She shared a current photo of them – a selfie taken while they’re both in bed and wrote,
“One year down a lifetime to go.”
A SUPPORTIVE MARRIAGE
Serena took a lot of heat recently and her husband remained constant in supporting and defending her. At the height of the US Open controversy where she got into a heated exchange with the tournament’s umpire and a cartoon depicting her famous tantrum emerged, the devoted husband slammed the piece and called out its artist for his “blatantly racist and misogynistic” representation of his wife.
When haters on Twitter picked on their interracial marriage, Alexis responded with a history lesson. When Serena lost at Wimbledon earlier this year, he lauded her still for her “remarkable” achievement knowing she suffered nine months ago during the birth of her daughter. He even whisked her away to Italy just because she craved for Italian food.
Serena and Alexis have proven how strong their marriage is despite the hate, upsets, and challenges thrown their way. Their first year is truly is a milestone worth celebrating with people finding inspiration in their unique love affair.
