Jada P. Smith reveals she 'had to pull a knife' on ex after he 'started getting really aggressive'
Jada Pinkett Smith, the wife of actor Will Smith, took her time to reveal her domestic abuse experience on her Facebook show “Red Table Talk.”
During one of the segments of the series, the 47-year-old actress opened up about one of the moments she thought something terrible would happen to her. Jada said that a former boyfriend became aggressive and that she protected herself with a knife.
Without revealing the person’s name, Jada asked her mother, Adrienne Banfield-Jones, if she remembered the incident she had with “that one guy” she used to date.
HOW THE INCIDENT STARTED
She later revealed that the then-couple had been drinking in a restaurant and that he decided to drive the car. Once in the vehicle, he started getting “really aggressive.” Thankfully, she got out of the car and got into the house.
DEFENDING HERSELF
“I ran to the house. I had to take my clothes off, take off my heels. I always travel with a black Russell hoodie and black Russell sweats. I remember jumping in that sweatsuit, grabbing a big ol’ knife from the kitchen and hiding in his son’s room. I’ll never forget,” said Jada.
The man later got in the house through a sliding back door and, as soon as she looked at him, she said, “don’t come near me.” The man replied, “you think I would hurt you? I would never do that to you,” something that Jada described as the “quintessential line” in movies.
THE WAY SHE ENDED THEIR RELATIONSHIP
Even though Jada didn’t say how that incident ended, she revealed how she ended that unhealthy relationship. According to her Spike Lee had been calling her and offering a role in the 1996 film “Girl 6.”
Jada used that as an excuse to leave the man, who apparently knew that they would never be together again as he even asked her, “I will never see you again, will I?” Even though she told him they could work things out, they never saw each other again, indeed.
JADEN’S “COMING OUT”
The Smith family has been in the middle of the spotlight lately as Jaden apparently came out of the closet saying that fellow rapper Tyler the Creator was his boyfriend.
In the middle of a concert Jaden performed at Tyler’s Camp Flog Gnaw Carnival on November 11, he said, “I wanna tell you guys something, I wanna tell you, Tyler doesn’t wanna say, but Tyler is my [expletive] boyfriend [sic],”

CONFIRMING IT
Soon after that video went viral, Jaden took to Twitter to reaffirm what he said onstage. In the now-deleted post, he wrote, “Yup [Tyler] I Told Everyone You Can’t Deny It Now.” Tyler replied to his tweet by writing, “hahaha you a crazy [expletive] man.”
That was not the only thing he said to "confirm" their relationship, though. While promoting his new music, he went to Apple Music’s Beats 1 Radio wherein he pointed out that what he said about Tyler being his boyfriend was “true.”
