Kerry Washington makes rare public appearance with husband Nnamdi Asomugha at NYC movie screening

Kerry Washington and her husband, Nnamdi Asomugha made another rare public appearance as a couple earlier this week.

It comes two years after Washington explained why she doesn’t refute divorce rumors.

It’s not every day the cameras get to capture the actress and the NFL player-turned-actor together, so when they do, it makes it to the headlines.

On Monday evening, Washington and Asomugha stepped out for a special screening of “If Beale Street Could Talk” at The Landmark 57 Theater in New York City.

Washington, 41, hosted the movie screening and chose to go casual in a loose beige sweater, blue jeans, and brown heels. The “Scandal” actress chose light accessories -- only a pair of drop earrings, lip gloss, and light makeup. 37-year-old Asomugha also wore a simple grey top, navy blue trench coat, and black pants.

The notoriously private couple has been married since June 2013. They welcomed their first child, daughter Isabelle in 2014, and their son, Caleb was born in 2016.

The same year, probably because they're hardly seen together, Washington and Asomugha became the subjects of widespread separation rumors.

The “Django Unchained” star was forced to speak out and explained why she prefers to stay quiet about her family:

“If I don’t talk about my personal life, it means I don’t talk about my personal life. That means not only did I not tell you when I was getting married, it also means if somebody has rumors about what’s going on in my marriage, I don’t refute them, because I don’t talk about my personal life."

Proving the naysayers wrong, Washington and Asomugha went hand-in-hand to the 2018 Tony Awards earlier in June. The actress looked glamorous in a silver jumpsuit while Asomugha -- who starred in the 2017 film “Crown Heights” -- looked dashing in a tuxedo.
