Haarmann is not exactly a mystery man outside Hollywood circles. According to Aspire Institute, he "is a Founding Partner of Searchlight Capital, an investment firm with over $10 billion under management."

His profile also notes that he serves on the Investment Committee, Operating Committee, and Valuation Committee, and is jointly responsible for overseeing the firm's activities with the other founding partners. Before co-founding Searchlight, Haarmann was a senior partner at KKR & Co. L.P. in London.

His Searchlight Capital profile says he helped build KKR's European business from a start-up into one of Europe's leading private equity firms.

He received a BA in both international relations and history from Brown University and an MBA from Harvard Business School. He is also involved in educational and philanthropic initiatives, including serving on the Board of Trustees of Brown University and as Chairman of IntoUniversity.

Witherspoon's New Chapter Comes After a Very Public Personal Reset

Witherspoon's romance with Haarmann comes after a major personal chapter. As E! Online reported, she and ex-husband, Jim Toth, finalized their divorce in August 2023 after 11 years of marriage. The two share a 13-year-old son, Tennessee.

By May 2025, Page Six reported that the Oscar winner and the financier were looking to move in together and had been eyeing an ultra-high-end apartment in New York. A source told the outlet, "They are looking in the area because [one of her kids] is attending NYU and Reese wants to be close."

The insider also claimed, "They've toured the apartment twice already and were very sweet and affectionate at both tours."
