Gabrielle Union took to Instagram and shared a clip showing very intimate moments during the birth of her daughter Kaavia James Union Wade.
In the video, Gabrielle and her partner, NBA professional Dwyane Wade, was seated on a couch, talking about their experience as parents.
The actress said that she had undergone eight or nine miscarriages. She set clear that getting pregnant was not the problem – keeping and developing the baby in her womb was.
When the actress learned that she had adenomyosis, the couple considered that a surrogate mother was their best option.
As Mayo Clinic reported, adenomyosis happens when the endometrial tissue, which normally lines the uterus, grows into the muscular wall of the uterus.
As a result, periods might be longer, and the area might be sore.
Gabrielle kept explaining that their surrogate had no genetic tie to Kaavia as it was the couple’s embryo that got implanted in her uterus.
Then, the most dramatic yet beautiful part of the video: the birth.
The NBA player and the actress revealed that they were in the delivery room when Kaavia was born, and the video showed the doctors taking the baby out of the surrogate and even displaying her at the camera.
At the end of the clip, a couple of photos of the baby next to her full name, Kaavia James Union Wade, and her day of birth – November 7, 2018 – appeared.
For the caption, the actress wrote a lengthy message saying that every family was unique.
Getting pregnant was not the problem – keeping and developing the baby in her womb was.
“This is our birth journey. Thank you all for the love, support and understanding and all the people who held us up when we lost hope,” wrote Gabrielle, who urged people to go to her IGTV to watch the full version of the video.
The couple uploaded that clip a couple of days after Gabrielle shared a slideshow shutting down shaming comments she has got in social media.
In the first photo, Gabrielle was kissing her daughter’s forehead. The second part of the post was a video that showed Kaavia and a pediatrician checking her lungs and ears.
In the caption, the actress made it clear that her daughter was “surrounded by medical and child care specialists” and that she wouldn’t post anything that could put her daughter in danger or put her “up to unsolicited online medical or parenting opinions.”
Gabrielle said so because she got a lot of backlash for posting a video kissing Kaavia in the mouth, something that her followers didn’t like at all.
