On November 19, 2018, Christopher Watts, 33, was sentenced to three life sentences without the possibility of parole for the August 2017 killings of his pregnant wife and two young daughters.

Watts pleaded guilty in the face of overwhelming evidence in order to avoid the death penalty. Now the smoking gun that led him to change his plea has been revealed, reported Daily Mail on December 11, 2018.

THE EVIDENCE THAT BROKE CHRIS WATTS

The moment that Watts realized he was done for was captured on a Policeman's bodycam, and the footage has been released.

In the clip, Watts is shown surveillance footage captured by a neighbor's security camera that showed him loading his family's bodies into his truck. The body cam footage shows Watts placing his hands on his head and turning away from the damning images, and his face mirrors his dawning realization that he has been caught red-handed.

WATTS ACCUSED HIS DEAD WIFE OF MURDER

Watts admitted to killing his wife but claimed that he had done so after she had killed the couple's two tiny daughters, Bella, 4, and Celeste, 3. Watts stated that he had asked Shannan, 34, for a divorce and that she had lashed out at him by murdering the two children.

WATTS REFUSED TO REVEAL WHERE HE HAD DISPOSED OF THE BODIES

Even though Watts refused to reveal where he had disposed of the bodies, investigators found Shanann and the two children in a Colorado oil facility where he had once worked. He had placed the girls' bodies inside full oil tanks, and buried Shannan and her unborn son, Nico, in a nearby shallow grave

POLICE REPORT REVEALS HORRIFIC DETAILS OF THE RETRIEVAL OF THE BODIES

A Hazardous Materials Incident Narrative Report filed by the Colorado State Patrol reveals in harrowing detail the retrieval of Bella and Celeste bodies.

It took the Police 14 hours to retrieve the two tiny bodies. First, the two 400-barrel oil tanks had to be manually drained. The oil was then poured over metal screens in order to retrieve any possible evidence.

Officers in self-contained breathing gear to protect them from the fumes entered the tanks and removed the bodies of the little girls. As the children were passed out of the tanks, their skin came away from their bodies.

Since Shanann's body wouldn't fit through the 8 inch opening on the oil tank, Watts had wrapped her in a sheet and buried her.

SHANANN WATTS HAD RISKED EVERYTHING TO HAVE HER CHILDREN

Shanann Watts' parents have opened up about their daughter and their grandchildren for the first time.

Frank and Sandra Rzucek revealed that Shanann had overcome enormous obstacles to give birth to her two little girls, Bella and Celeste.

Shanann had been diagnosed with Lupus, a life-threatening long-term auto-immune condition. Lupus can complicate pregnancy with an increased risk of miscarriage, premature delivery, and preeclampsia, as well as heart problems in the baby. All Lupus pregnancies are considered high risk, but Shanann was determined to have a family.

She was 15 weeks pregnant with her third child, Nico, when her husband, Chris Watts murdered her. Shanann had an inkling that all was not well, and confided in a friend:

“He has changed. I don’t know who he is. [Chris] hasn’t touched me all week, kissed me, talked to me except for when I’m trying to figure out what is wrong.”

Watts was having an affair, and rather than face a messy divorce he killed his wife and slaughtered his children. He will pay for his crimes by spending the rest of his life behind bars.
