Robert De Niro spoke to David Smith and was very vocal about his dislike for Trump, even likening him to Adolf Hitler.

He said: "I’m older now and I’m just upset about what’s going on. When you see someone like [Trump] becoming president, I thought, Well, OK, let’s see what he does — maybe he’ll change. But he just got worse."

He added that Trump is a "real racist," and said it's a shame that Trump, as a New Yorker, can fathom the concept of diversity.

The 7-year-old "Ronan" actor also called Trump a white supremacist," and said that if Trump had his way, "we'd wind up in a very bad state in this country."

According to De Niro, the masses laughed at Hitler too, just like most of the world is laughing at President Trump today.

"They all look funny. Hitler looked funny, Mussolini looked funny, and other dictators and despots look funny."

De Niro finds it sad that people admire Trump. He was worried about the amount of support Trump gets but says future generations will be smarter.

He also believes that if Obama had done only one-fifth of what Trump has done, "they'd be all over him."

De Niro believes that the only way forward is to be more aggressive: "You’ve got to stand up, you can’t be so gentlemanly all the time."

The retired actor first rose to fame in the 1970s when he appeared in "Mean Streets." He won two Oscars throughout his career.

De Niro gained approximately 60 pounds for his role on "Raging Bull," in the role of the misfortune laden boxing champion Jake LaMotta.

Marlon Brando and De Niro are the only two actors who won Oscar Awards for portraying the same "Godfather" character.
