Chris Brown arrested in Paris following rape allegation, police say
French officials have confirmed that singer Chris Brown is currently in custody in Paris after a woman after a woman filed a rape complaint, Associated Press News reports.
According to the outlet, the “Kiss Kiss” singer was detained on Monday along with two other people on “potential charges of aggravated rape and drug infractions.”
Brown’s bodyguard is one of the other two people taken into custody with him, and investigators have up to two days to decide whether to let the singer go or file charges.
The woman who filed the rape complaint reportedly said she met Brown, 29, overnight between January 15 and 16 at the club Le Crystal in the 8th arrondissement near the Champs-Elysees.
He was with his friends, and they all went to the Mandarin Oriental Hotel near the Concorde Plaza in central Paris.
AP News reports that the Mandarin Oriental declined to make any comments on the incident and the club Le Crystal could not be immediately reached.
"The order came only two years after he completed probation for hitting Rihanna in 2009."
Brown and the other two persons are being held in the 17th arrondissement of northwest Paris, the French officials revealed.
BROWN'S LEGAL WOES
Since pleading guilty to the felony assault of his then-girlfriend, Rihanna, in 2009, Brown has found himself in one legal trouble or the other.
Last July, the Grammy winner was arrested moments after performing at his concert in Palm Beach County, Florida.
Police officers arrested him backstage in connection to a 2017 felony battery charge involving a nightclub photographer.
MONKEY BUSINESS
Brown also got in trouble last year after posting a picture of his then three-year-old daughter, Royalty, cuddling a capuchin monkey.
The monkey, named Fiji, was seized by the California Department of Fish and Wildlife and Brown was charged for lacking a permit for the animal. He is scheduled to be arraigned next month in Los Angeles.
RESTRAINING ORDER
In June 2017, the "Beautiful People" singer was also slammed with a five-year permanent restraining order by his ex-girlfriend, Karreuche Tran.
Tran presented threatening voice and text messages from Brown. In one of them, he said: "I want my [expletive] rings back, or I'm going to hurt your limbs."
Meanwhile, the order came only two years after he completed probation for hitting Rihanna in 2009.
Concerning the latest rape allegations, Brown’s publicists have reportedly remained silent on the issue. His US attorney, Mark Geragos, also did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
