John Berry reveals he has tonsil cancer in an emotional video, ‘trusting God’ to get him through
Fans of country star John Berry were shocked by the revelation of the singer's serious health issues.
Country singer John Berry posted a video on Facebook on January 22, 2019, in which he shared the news of his cancer diagnosis with his fans.
In a frank message to his followers, Berry explained how he had discovered his cancer, and spoke about the faith that is upholding him in his struggle.
"They found that he had two tumors in his tonsils and we're so grateful that it was contained to the tonsils and they were able to take both tonsils out."

"WE STARTED THE YEAR WITH A HICCUP"
The clip starts with Berry and his wife of 25 years, Robin, speaking about their Christmas tour, and the wonderful time they had had performing for friends and fans.
Then gently, Berry revealed that their 2019 has started with a "hiccup." He explained how his cancer was diagnosed and the battle he still faces to defeat it.
Berry has shared that his faith has been his strength throughout his ordeal.
A SCRATCHY THROAT DENOUNCED A DEADLY DISEASE
Berry confided that in November he started getting a catch in his throat, and it wouldn't go away. He noticed his tonsils were swollen and went to his doctor who prescribed antibiotics and steroids.
When he didn't improve by January, Berry's wife insisted he should see an ear, nose and throat specialist.
A CAT SCAN REVEALED THE PROBLEM
Berry's doctor ordered a CAT scan and found two tumors in his tonsils. Berry's tonsils were removed, and he has revealed that fortunately, his cancer has a cure rate of 90%.
Berry will now undergo five weeks of cancer treatment which will force him to alter some of his scheduled concerts.
ASKING THE FANS FOR LOVE AND SUPPORT
Berry has shared that his faith has been his strength throughout his ordeal, and he has asked his fans for their prayers and support.

This is John Berry's second bout with a serious illness. In 1994, Berry was rushed to the hospital in Atlanta, after he blacked out during a concert. Doctors found a cyst in his brain and removed it, and the singer recovered fully.
JOHN BERRY RECORDS FOR HOLLYWOOD MOVIE
John Berry's career took a new direction when he was contacted by Chuck Howard who had produced several of Berry's albums such as “Kiss Me in the Car,” “Your Love Amazes Me,” “You and Only You,” “She’s Taken a Shine.”
Howard asked Berry to perform the vocals for the theme song of the movie he was producing, "Beautifully Broken":
“Man, I’ve got the song and I’ve got the movie. I sent you a rough cut of the film. Take a look at it. I’ll send you the song tomorrow when I get to the office. Let me know what you think of the movie.”
Berry started watching the movie which is about faith, and the interwoven lives of families in Rwanda and Nashville.
The country star was moved to tears by the rough cut, and immediately agreed to sing the theme, even before he heard the song.
John Berry performed "Beautifully Broken" and the song has been lauded as one of his most moving renditions.
