Tyrese Gibson has taken new legal steps against his ex-wife. The actor filed documents accusing Norma Gibson of violating their child custody agreement.

Tyrese and Norma share custody of their 11-year-old daughter, Shayla. The 38-year-old actor found out that Norma entrusted their child to a friend when she stepped out of the country earlier this month. Shayla told her father the following day about staying overnight with her mother’s classmate while she visited Trinidad.

Upon learning of the incident, Tyrese was furious wondering why Norma didn’t entrust their daughter to him instead as is his right. This prompted the “Fast and the Furious” star to complain to the courts about his ex-wife’s violation.

Together with the complaint, he also cited another incident when Norma went against a court stipulation. He alleged that Norma posted photos of their daughter on social media two years ago and he only recently discovered it.

The court has reportedly issued a summons for Norma to answer the claims but she has yet to show up. If she fails to do so, she could be held in contempt of the court as well as be liable to Tyrese’s legal bills.

The former spouses have been at odds ever since they took their custody battle to court. They would often disagree on financial matters such as childcare costs and legal fees. They would also bump heads about how to parent their child. Tyrese once expressed his hope that he and Norma could reach a point of harmony for the sake of their child but that hasn’t happened. Instead, they’ve been relying on their attorneys to deal with their differences.

In November, Norma made headlines when she refused to find a job despite their court-ordered child support deal requiring her to. She’s currently receiving $10k a month in child support from Tyrese but at some point, she should be earning her own income. Norma claims her job is “living life” which infuriated Tyrese who also admitted to having financial problems. He also blamed Norma for his loss of income due to the domestic violence accusations he hurled at him that tainted his reputation.
