Jada Pinkett-Smith, the wife of Will Smith, revealed during a “Red Table Talk” conversation that she taught her children the value of hard work at a very young age.

While most people consider that being the child of a celebrity makes most of the things a lot easier, Willow and Jaden Smith had to work from a very young age to get what they wanted. Jada and Will wanted to make sure that their two children didn’t rely on their parents’ success but their own.

The actress pointed out that her children got to see when they were quite young that life was not a game and that all the family had was not theirs, referring to the items, clothes, and any other thing Jada and Will had gotten as a result of their work.

VOLUNTEERING AT THE AGE OF 5

“Listen, you guys are really privileged and you are to learn how to... offer yourself and be in service to the world,” said Jada, who made Willow and Jaden go to soup kitchens and homeless shelters to volunteer at the age of 5.

Apart from that, Jada set clear that she didn’t want her children to grow up thinking that, since their parents had a lot of money, they didn’t have to learn how to “grind,” or “work hard on their own.”

DIGGING INTO THEIR CAREERS

Willow and Jaden got the message, thankfully. In Jaden’s case, his first role in a movie was at eight years old, next to his father, in “The Pursuit of Happyness.” After that, he landed more roles in different films and, at the moment, he is a rapper.

His sister Willow, on the other hand, made her film debut at the age of seven in the film “I Am Legend” next to her father. Two years later, she released her first hit single “Whip My Hair.” Nowadays, she is an Alternative R&B singer with two albums on the market.

LOVING EACH OTHER DEEPLY

While some people might differ from Jada and Will’s way of raising Jaden and Willow, both of them have impressive careers at 20 and 18 years old, respectively, and, most importantly, they love their parents, a fact that is noticeable in their Instagram posts.

For Christmas, Jada uploaded a beautiful photo showing most members of her family wearing sweaters and fun hats posing together in a big living room.

Later, Will shared a photo posing next to Willow, Jaden, Jada, his son Trey, and his mother-in-law Adrienne Banfield-Norris.

In the caption, Will wrote,

“Jada LOOOOVES Christmas! I think she’s finally Rubbin’ Off on the rest of us. And this #Pixel3 got us lookin’ all Caramel Creamy! Merry Christmas Eve, Everybody.”
