George Strait and his six-year-old grandson charmed with their lovely duet of the country superstar’s newest song.
Little Harvey can be heard singing with George towards the end of the singer’s new single “God and Country Music”, which was uploaded to YouTube on January 31, 2019.
“Honestly no matter how old he gets his music never changes when I was a little girl my dad and I would listen to his songs all day."
In just five days, the song has been streamed on YouTube for almost 200,000 times.
Fans also left comments praising George and his passion for country music.
“God would be ashamed of today's country music... Respect the new music but the roots are [dying] out. Good to see ole George showing life in those roots still. George has never made a bad song and never will. He is truly the best artist that's ever been on a Mike. Sales and net worth proves it too,” one fan wrote.
“Honestly no matter how old he gets his music never changes when I was a little girl my dad and I would listen to his songs all day. His songs make my day and can make me cry. My dad would love this song,” another fan commented.
“God and Country Music” is one of the tracks in George’s upcoming new album, “Honky Tonk Time Machine”. The album is scheduled for release on March 29, 2019.
HIGHLY-DECORATED MUSICIAN
Known as the King of Country, George has been credited for bringing country music back to its roots and away from the pop country era in the 1980s.
He broke into the country music scene with his first single, “Unwound”, in 1981.
He is also one of the most awarded singers. During the 1980s, seven of his albums reached number one on the country charts. In the 2000s, Strait was named Artist of the Decade by the Academy of Country Music and subsequently elected into the Country Music Hall of Fame.
One of George’s most memorable song is “I Cross My Heart”, an ode to the woman of his dreams.
Released in September 1992 as part of his album “Pure Country,” the song also became the soundtrack of the movie of the same title.
