Kate Middleton stole the show after baring shoulder in sparkling ‘bridal’ dress
On Sunday night, Kate Middleton attended the annual BAFTA Awards for the second time by Prince William’s side, wearing a breathtaking gown for the evening.
Held at the Royal Albert Hall, the biggest night on the British film calendar featured stars like Margot Robbie, Bradley Cooper, Rami Malek, and Olivia Colman.
Prince William, who has been the President of the BAFTA Awards (the British version of the Oscars) for the past three years, looked dapper in a plain black tuxedo with a white pocket square alongside his stunning wife, Kate.
Guests to the event started arriving around 4 pm, while the royal couple made their entry just before 7 pm. Welcomed by the BAFTA Chief Executive, Amanda Berry, the crowd went silent as she led the Royals to their seats close to the stage.
Kate looked dreamy in a one-shouldered white Alexander McQueen gown. The shoulder strap featured a floral motif and ruffled detail while she paired the gorgeous dress with a diamond bracelet, a white clutch, and a pair of earrings which the late Princess Diana wore while she accepted the Humanitarian of the Year Award in 1995.
As the president of BAFTA, Prince William presented the Fellowship award to Thelma Schoonmaker, a film editor. It is the highest award given by the Academy to an individual for their outstanding contribution to film, television, and games. Stars previously bestowed with this honor is Judi Dench, Helen Mirren, Michael Caine, and Elizabeth Taylor.
During last year’s awards, fans may remember that Kate was seven months pregnant with the latest royal member, Prince Louis.
The Duchess looked elegant in a deep green cap-sleeved dress by Jenny Packham, with a high waisted black sash that showed off her baby bump. Kate’s perfect curls, her Prada heels, and black clutch rounded off her glowing look.

Since the Duchess of Cambridge returned from Maternity leave in October, stylists and observant fans noticed a change in Kate’s wardrobe.
According to celebrity stylist, Lucas Armitage, Kate’s look is heading into a more traditional style, inspired by the Queen. As Lucas told the Daily Mail:
"Lately I'm noticing her wear more tailoring in head-to-toe looks, rather than individual pieces of tailoring. Head-to-toe tailoring is the Queen's go to, so it makes sense for Kate's style to develop in this way. As a queen in waiting Kate has adopted a playful approach to color, again something, we are used to seeing the Queen have fun with."
It’s also notable that many of Kate’s recycled outfits could have come from the Queen’s wardrobe at some point, and it seems Kate is embracing the Queen’s love for color as well.
