Kate Middleton pays tribute to her late mother-in law Princess Diana by wearing her earrings
The mother-of-three made a red carpet appearance alongside her husband, Prince William, at the 2019 BAFTA Awards ceremony, and her choice of earrings stood out as they belonged to late Princess Diana.
36-year-old Prince William, who is president of the British Academy of Film and Television (BAFTA) and his wife, 37-year-old Kate Middleton weren’t the only royals present at this year’s BAFTA awards ceremony.
Late Princess Diana was also there in spirit, or, more precisely, in the form of a pair of earrings that used to belong to her and were brought back by her daughter-in-law for the special occasion.
The pearl and diamond droplet earrings were he perfect touch to complete an outstanding look for the Duchess of Cambridge, who wore a one-shouldering white gown by McQueen for the gala.
The earrings didn’t go unnoticed as Middleton walked the red carpet with William, who wore a black tux. The accessories were identified as the same Diana wore at Royal Albert Hall in 1991, according to Vanity Fair.
While the tribute to Diana wasn’t immediately caught by the media, some Twitter users got the reference and took to the social network to share it.
This isn’t the first time when Middleton pays tribute to Diana by wearing her jewelry. Back in November 2018, for example, the Duchess wore Diana’s “Lover’s Knot” tiara.
At the time, the media made a fuss about it, but it turned out Middleton had already used the accessory in several previous occasions. Nevertheless, she faced some expected backlash from people who claimed she wasn’t worthy of wearing it.
The 2019 BAFTA Awards ceremony marks the third time the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge make an appearance among the UK’s biggest movie stars.
The couple attended the event for the first time in 2017, and in 2018 Middleton surprised everybody by showing up despite being seven months pregnant.
William took over the presidency of the BAFTA from acclaimed documentary filmmaker Sir David Attenborough in 2010.
During the ceremony, Middleton took some time to have a word with Olivia Colman to congratulate the latter for winning the Best Actress award for her role of Queen Anne in “The Favourite.”
When Middleton is not flaunting her incredible sense of style while keeping things “royal,” she is winning people’s hearts by sharing candid details of her children’s day-to-day life.
Recently, the Duchess revealed her 3-year-old daughter Princess Charlotte’s favorite snack, and it is not your typical tasty treat.
“Charlotte loves olives,” the proud mother said during her latest visit to a school in London.
