Ashanti gets clowned for wearing a 'giant comforter' in photos from the Grammys

Ashanti chose to make a huge fashion statement at the Grammy Awards. However, not everyone took it well and some clowned her for wearing a "giant comforter."

Self-proclaimed Diva, Ashanti is famous for taking massive fashion risks. She did not disappoint for the 2019 Grammy Awards at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California.

She wore a showstopping dress that definitely turned heads. However, not everyone felt the dress was a fashion statement.

Ashanti showed off her curves in a stunning black and gold dress. The dress boasted long sleeves and a high slit on the front.

The top half of the dress hugged her body snuggly. The bottom half of the dress was made up of giant ruffles.

However, many fans felt the fashionista missed the mark completely. Some critics labeled the bottom half of her gown a "giant comforter."

Fans flooded her Instagram posts with conflicting comments with some referring to the outfit as a complete fashion fail. Others were conflicted.

One fan commented that the headline-making dress was the carbon copy of a comforter she was looking for. She wrote:

“OMG, I’ve been looking for a gold comforter extra fluffy comforter… She looks like one of my kids walking around the house with their comforters asking to turn the heat up lol. But she looks beautiful, but for when I first saw this picture I thought it was Tamar Braxton.”

Some fans came to Ashanti's defense. One said the talented singer/songwriter could do no wrong in their eyes, writing,

“Ashanti can’t do any wrong in my eyes. That leg is being served!!! Thick thighs save lives. Always and forever. Celebrity crush since my adolescent days! Ain’t nothing changed with her. It's not the first time Ashanti turned heads with a figure-hugging dress. Last year, the fashionista had flaunted her curves in latex midi-dress.
