Andy Cohen’s new son makes magazine cover debut, dad jokes baby ‘overdelivered’ on the hair front
Andy Cohen welcomed his long-awaited son via surrogate last week, and the little one has already made his magazine cover debut. Also, if there’s anything the new dad can’t seem to stop raving about, it’s the baby’s full head of hair.
The “Watch What Happens Live” host and his son, Benjamin Allen Cohen are featured on the cover of People Magazine’s latest issue where he also spilled more details in an exclusive interview.
Cohen, 50, shared a photo of the cover on his Instagram page. In it, he sports a purple sweater while cradling baby Benjamin in his arms.
While the new dad looks extremely happy with a broad smile, the infant merely stares at the camera, probably trying to figure out what the gadget is.
An excited Cohen gushed in the caption:
“This is my son!! I grew up reading @People cover to cover, at a time when being gay meant there was no way to have a family. Now I’m honored to be featured on the magazine’s cover. Thank you @mrjesscagle for sharing my story. Link in bio, and check out the issue on stands Friday.”
The openly gay TV personality also spoke about Benjamin’s hair, revealing it was the first thing he saw as the surrogate delivered his child.
“I was in the delivery room. I had been hoping that he would have a full head of hair, and he really overdelivered,” he said. “That was the first thing you see, the head of hair coming out. And I was amazed.”
Cohen repeated the same thing to his friends at the “TODAY” show when he spoke to them via video call on Wednesday.
“I just sit and stare at him. I can't get over his head of hair. He's adorable; he's so cute,” he raved.
The Bravo host, who has been single since breaking up with his boyfriend last year, worked “with an incredible surrogate” he met through an organization that “helps you find the egg donor and the surrogate.”
Baby Benjamin was born on February 4, and an overwhelmed Cohen quickly announced the occasion on Instagram with a black-and-white snap of him going skin-to-skin with his son.
He wrote in the caption:
“WOW! This is my son, Benjamin Allen Cohen. He is 9lbs 2 ounces!! 20 inches!! Born at 6:35 pm, PT. He is named after my grandfather Ben Allen. I’m in love. And speechless. And eternally grateful to an incredible surrogate. And I’m a dad. Wow.”
