Fire Department Captain Carried Elderly Lady in His Arms to Help Her up the Stairs
There are still good people left in the world, and a Texas firefighter proved it when he helped out a senior woman on his day off.
Knights in shining armor comes in the form of different people, from different walks of life, and this time, it came in the form of a Texas firefighter.
Thomas Harwell is a Houston firefighter who works with the Hardin Volunteer Fire Department. He is currently getting a lot of attention for his kindness and is a local hero.
Shayla Harwell, the hero's wife publicized her husband's kindness with a post on Facebook. The proud wife shared an account of what happened, writing along with a picture post.
Shayla wrote that they were at the rodeo in Houston when she saw the senior woman, her daughter, and her granddaughters. On realizing that the woman was finding it difficult to walk to her seat, she pointed her to Harwell, telling him the family needed help.
True to his superhero nature, the good man helped the aged woman to her seat. After the show, he saw she could not get back up and carried her up the stairs.
Shayla who is also a volunteer firefighter told the "Houston Chronicles" that helping others was embedded in their DNA, and "Kindness should be a way of life."
People agree with her, as the picture she put up on social media has garnered a lot of attention. The image has gotten 30,000 likes, over 6000 shares, and several comments.
A comment from Clarion Borden Wilbanks reads:
"Awesome, thanks for helping her. Don't see this much anymore. "
Martha Kilpatrick commented:
"A gentleman for sure, as well as being able to physically help her."
Diana Philips wrote:
"What a wonderful husband you have, warms my heart to see good people. Thomas Harwell, you rock!."
Harwell is not the only good guy around though. In Washington, a state trooper went out of his way to help an elderly lady. The trooper, Dave Hintz, saw the lady riding her scooter on the road, and followed her in his car for over two hours.
The move was to ensure her safety, after which Heinz seeing that she was lost, offered to give her a ride home. He explained at the time that it was not anything great, but what he would expect anyone to do for his mother. In a world filled with a lot of evil-minded people, it is good to know there are still some decent people out there.
