The Day Blake Shelton Woke up at Midnight to Write His Dream into a Song

Plenty of celebrities have openly discussed their faith recently, and this country singer is one of the many who has written a dream into one of his songs.

Blake Shelton got the inspiration to write "Savior's Shadow," a song about his faith in God and how he feels protected by Him, from a dream he had in the middle of the night.

"I have a song called ‘Savior’s Shadow’ on my current album that I actually dreamed,” Shelton shared. “I woke up, and there was more of the song in my dream, but all I could remember was the first verse—I sang it into my phone, and I never forgot it.”

“Now, looking back, I know it was God’s way of telling me that he’s here and things are gonna be OK.”

Shelton is a man of faith, and he fiercely believes in God. While some wonder about the existence of such an entity, there isn't a shadow of a doubt in the singer's mind that He exists.

While he doesn't remember the dream per se, he woke up with some of the lyrics in his head. He immediately reached for his smartphone and wrote them down, rather than leaving it for the morning when he might forget them.

It that instant, he realized just how much those words meant to him. At the time, he was going through a really difficult stage of his life.

The country singer was divorcing fellow country musician Miranda Lambert, and found hope in the song. To him, the song meant that Jesus was watching over him, shielding him from the challenges he was facing, walking beside him the whole way.

"Shadow's Savior" is considered to be an introspective gospel song that guides the listener through Shelton's struggles, as well as his faith that God will always be there to show him the way.
