Carson Daly Pays a Sweet Tribute to His Late Mother on Her 75th Birthday
In an emotional post, Carson Daly commemorated what would have been his late mother Patty Daly Caruso’s 75th birthday.
The TODAY anchor shared a loving photo of himself alongside his mom and his sister, Quinn, on Instagram.
“Mom would have been the big 75 today,'' he captioned the post. "As I told my sister this morning, I’m still in total denial & plan on calling her later. We’ll celebrate tonight w her classic fried chicken, tons of red vino & peanut butter cookies! And her grandbabies of course. Love you mom! happy bday & Talk later."
Patty tragically passed away on September 17, 2017, due to a heart attack. She was 73 years old. She was also diagnosed with breast cancer in the late 1990s.
Previously, Carson told a source that his mom had a great influence over his life, saying she was an inspiration for him.
“I think having a strong parent has just been such an inspiration because it's a constant reminder for me to find my own pillar of strength and to be that for my own growing family,’’ he shared.]
Carson lost his father to bladder cancer when he was young.
“I remember the day my dad died”, he recalled. “I went upstairs and the room was pitch black, and my mom was in bed. Her way of trying to explain about the death of my dad was, ‘Daddy's not coming home.’ I think I said something like, ‘Mommy, I wondered if I could please have Daddy's money?’ She knew I couldn't quite comprehend what was going on.”
Carson further added he feels like God blessed him with “two incredible dads” after his mother married Richard Caruso, his stepfather.
Patty had juvenile onset diabetes when she passed away due to a heart attack. Carson and his sister Quinn have also been affected by the disease. The duo honored their mother by raising awareness about the link between diabetes and heart condition for American Heart Month.
