Gunman and One Other Dead in Tennessee Mall Shooting
A shooting at Five Oaks Mall, near the Smoky Mountains in Tennessee, has left the gunman and one other person dead, and another critically injured.
As reported by the Knoxville Sentinel, the gunman walked into the mall on Tuesday afternoon and opened fire. He shot and killed one woman, and injured a man.
The shooter then turned the gun on himself. Officers were dispatched to the scene, but the shooter and woman were dead.
The injured victim was rushed to the University of Tennessee Medical Center, and an update about his condition has not yet been released.
Authorities are at the scene, but the shooter's identity is yet to be determined. The incident is described as a random shooting.
Sevierville Police Department spokesman Bob Stahlke said there was no longer any threat. The stores within the mall remained open. Stahlke added:
"We do not believe that any of the people involved knew each other from everything we have so far. And I'll stress that's so far; it's still preliminary. It appears that this was a random shooting."
