Nancy Pelosi Makes a Rare Red Carpet Appearance at the Time 100 Gala in NYC

United States House Speaker, Nancy Pelosi makes an unexpected presence at the just concluded "TIME 100" gala.

The American politician looked elegant in a rich green dress which contrasted with her red lip stain. Her shoes and statement earrings were a matching shade of silver.

The star-studded event had a good number of famous faces in attendance as the likes of Taylor Swift, Naomi Campbell, Emilia Clarke, and Glenn Close also graced the occasion with their sophisticated styles.

The 79-year-old lawmaker was honored at the occasion as she made TIME’s list of 100 most influential people. This is as a result of her immense contribution in USA’s policy-making and the Democratic Party. Pelosi attended the gala with her husband, Paul Pelosi.

Speaking with TIME, Nancy revealed that the greatest influence in her life was her mother who taught her how to be a competent mother as well as a great leader. Nancy said:

“It’s always about mom, about the love, confidence-instilling, the importance of studying, of learning the arts, the subject matters in schools.”

Pelosi is the only girl amongst seven children. Presently, the senior citizen is a mother to five children and a grandmother of nine. At the gala, Nancy Pelosi had a lovely time with other honorees and A-list celebrities all from entertainment, sports, politics, and science.

Taylor Swift who was one of the honorees looked stunning in a peach tube dress which left her shoulders and upper arms bare. Her lower arms were covered in detachable sleeves.

Also in attendance and equally stunning was Emilia “Daenerys” Clarke who plays the role of Mother of dragons in acclaimed TV series, “Game of Thrones.” Clarke rocked a red number which she matched with her lipstick. She wore her hair short in a sleek style.

Canadian actress, Sandra Oh wore a black number which matched her raven black hair. The “Grey’s Anatomy” star spoke on the recent Beyoncé’s “Homecoming” documentary.

Oh praised Beyoncé for the efforts she put into her Coachella performance. Oh concluded, as she addressed the other guests at the gala night:

“I encourage you all to see it because you’re witnessing an artist at her most potent and working on the deepest cultural level.”

The event was spiced up with beautiful music from R&B artist, Khalid as he made a classic rendition of some of his hit songs which include “Location”, “Young, Dumb and Broke” and “Talk.”
