Eve spent Easter weekend in London supporting her husband’s father in the inauguration of an art exhibition. The couple took the chance to pose with some of the paintings to later share the pics on Instagram.

However, the response from fans was not what they expected.

It’s been almost five years since rapper Eve tied the knot with Maximillion Cooper—the CEO of the Gumball 3000 international race—and still, some people seem to have missed the memo and act surprised about Eve being married a white man.

The 40-year-old “Barbershop” star and her husband traveled to London over the Easter weekend to support her father-in-law, Johnnie Cooper, on the opening of his new art exhibition at Saatchi Gallery.

The couple posed with oil on canvas painting titled “Terra Repromissionis Sanctorum,” and Eve took to Instagram to share the photo with her loyal fanbase.

MIXED REACTIONS

However, the reactions in the comment section were mixed.

While some fans gushed about Eve and Max, calling them “couple goals,” others criticized the rapper for being in an interracial marriage.

"It’s funny because I’m a really fiercely independent person and I always have been. Being married, you have to relinquish some of that."

“Smh. Get you a brotha Eve. No Blak ppl should date a whte person until we're all treated equally. If there's more non-racist than racist then this shouldn't be a problem,” one critic said.

And another agreed:

“I think it’s sad when it has to come to this for a black woman to feel respected and safe and happy. I love love. I just don’t know why it’s sooooo hard to swallow this pill. Idk I guess I just always thought Eve could do soooo much better. That car ride musta been something else, Chile!”

Others had a different view. Like one fan who praised Eve saying, “Happiness looks good on you Queen. Blessings,” and another that called out the haters saying:

“All of these negative comments on here, I bet they are some lonely, bitter, heartbroken women to judge a relationship they know nothing of. @therealeve keep shining and loving!”

THEIR LOVE STORY

Eve and Maximillion first met at the 2010 Gumball 3000 rally in Ibiza. They dated for four years and tied the knot at the finish of the 2014’s rally in the same city.

On an interview with CocoaFab, Eve admitted that the relationship with Cooper changed her for the better.

“Being married has changed me in a lot of different ways. It’s funny because I’m a really fiercely independent person and I always have been. Being married, you have to relinquish some of that,” she said. And continued:

“Not in a bad way but in the way that you need to sit back and trust your partner to be able [to] help you with things. Sometimes my husband has to say to me, ‘Chill. You’re my wife now. I can take the ball from here. Don’t even stress.'”

Although the couple doesn’t have children yet, Eve is the step-mother of Max’s four kids from a previous marriage.

However, the “The Talk” co-host has stated in the past that she’s eager to welcome kids of her own at any moment.

“We can’t wait to have kids of our own,” she told People in 2016. “Whoever is in charge, make it happen. I can’t wait.”
