Home renovation stars and entrepreneurs Chip and Joanna Gaines, famous for their HGTV reality series “Fixer Upper,” aired from 2013 to 2018, were honored as two of the most influential people of 2019 by Time magazine on April 16.

The great news came with great timing for the couple, serving as a propitious sign for their recently announced most ambitious project to date: the launch of their own TV network and subscription streaming service on 2020.

DRESSED FOR THE OCCASION

The Gaines’ took their rightful place in history alongside 98 of the world’s biggest stars, world leaders and agents of change, with gratefulness and humbleness, but they were sure to look sensational on the special evening.

41-year-old Joanna picked a navy blue strapless dress with a sweetheart neckline, flaunting her toned arms and incredible figure. The gown featured a peplum waistline, which cascaded down her side.

The mother-of-five wore her dark brown hair loose and put on minimal makeup, true to her natural style.

44-year-old Chip, Joanna’s husband of 15 years and her partner in crime, wore a black suit with matching vest and tie with a crisp white shirt, looking very elegant and handsome without sacrificing his authenticity.

Even though the Gaines are stars in their own right, with millions of loyal fans, they aren’t indifferent to meet celebrities from the music, film, and TV industries, and Joanna seemed to be particularly starstruck by singer Taylor Swift.

The pair looked very excited about being photographed next to actress Julianne Moore as well.

MEETING MARTHA STEWART

Joanna and Chip can count many celebrities among their fan base, but they experienced an awkward moment when they introduced themselves to someone they really look up to: 77-year-old media mogul Martha Stewart.

“We were so excited to meet Martha Stewart, but she didn’t have the faintest idea who we are, not a single clue,” Chip admitted.

“But we don’t mind at all. Joanna was so excited to meet Martha and so we asked someone to introduce us,” Chip told Page Six.

“Martha was very gracious and supportive. It was a really wonderful moment for us to meet her. And my gosh doesn’t she look great!” he added.

Despite not recognizing them immediately when she met them, Stewart told the news outlet that she did know who they were.

“I had never met Chip and Joanna at all before, but their Magnolia magazine is published by my publisher Meredith, and I know they have a lovely family and a TV station,” Stewart said.
