Rapper Bun B Shoots Armed Intruder at His Houston Home
Bun B shot an armed intruder who tried to steal his wife’s luxury car on Tuesday, April 23, police authorities confirm. The suspected has since been arrested and charged.
Law enforcement sources told TMZ that the intruder knocked on Bun B’s door around 5 pm on Tuesday. The rapper was upstairs but his wife, Queen Freeman, opened the door thinking it was a delivery.
The intruder held Queen at gunpoint and demanded property while forcing his way into their home. Queen pleaded with the intruder to spare her life and offered her luxury Audi that was in the garage.
'Although they're physically fine, the wounds, emotional wounds, I can't speak to how long they'll take to heal.'
Bun B’s attorney Charles Adams said Queen offered her car because she feared he was there to hurt her husband.
"Her fear was that this was someone trying to target her husband, so she gave him the car keys and all the possessions she had," Adams said, according to CBS News.
Bun B (real name Bernard Freeman) heard the interaction from upstairs, grabbed his gun, and came downstairs to confront the suspect. The rapper met him just as he was trying to drive away Queen’s Audi and a shootout ensued. The intruder eventually fled, wounded, and left his gun behind.
The authorities said he showed up several hours later at a local hospital with a gunshot injury to his shoulder.
The suspect, identified as 20-year-old DeMonte Alif Jackson, was treated and later arrested. He has been charged with two counts of aggravated robbery and one count of burglary.
Adams told USA Today:
"Bun was courageous in the efforts to protect his wife; his wife was courageous in her efforts to protect him. It was a horrible and beautiful story at the same time."
The attorney also assured that both husband and wife are physically okay but noted the same could not be said for the impact of the experience on their emotions.
"I've had messages from the Middle East and Europe, everyone is concerned about Bun and Queen,” Adams disclosed to KHOU-TV, adding that:
“Although they're physically fine, the wounds, emotional wounds, I can't speak to how long they'll take to heal. But it is really a story of two people that truly love each other and risked their lives to save each other. And I just thank God that both of them are okay."
Bun B, 46, is famous as one half of the rap duo UGK with famous hits to their name including "Pocket Full of Stones" and "Ridin' Dirty." He is also friends with rapper Eve and her husband, Maximillion Cooper.
