British actor Idris Elba has recently tied the knot with model Sabrina Dhowre, who he met while filming the 2017 thriller "The Mountain Between Us" in Canada.
The two lovebirds exchanged vows on Friday, April 26, 2019, at the Ksar Char Bagh hotel in Marrakesh, Morocco, a luxurious hotel famous for its extensive gardens.
It has been reported that Dhowre opted to wear two distinct gowns created by Vera Wang while Elba chose to keep the classic black suit by Ozwald Boateng for the whole day.
A VERY INTIMATE CEREMONY
Elba and Dhowre said "I do" in front of a small crowd of family and friends, but even before the ceremony, they held a rehearsal dinner at Amanjena on Thursday night.
The 46-year-old actor proposed to Dhowre back in February 2018 and considered it "the most nerve-wracking thing" he has ever done, especially because it was in such a public place.
Initially, Elba was planning on taking a knee on Valentine's Day but later came to the conclusion that it would be "problematic," which was why he did it at the premiere of the movie "Yardie."
"It was a little spontaneous if I’m honest. I was at a cast and crew screening and among people I loved. We had all worked so hard for this project so I was like I’m doing it right now, here, today.”
The proposal was so unexpected that it quickly went viral, making headlines all over the world and leading people to share a video of the moment across several social media platforms.
But although the now-happy husband didn't propose on Valentine's Day, the couple still had a very romantic time walking on the beach and watching the waves crashing against the rocks.
At the time, Dhowre couldn't help but share a few snaps of that day with her fans and followers, who were treated to pics of the lovebirds kissing as well as the bouquet of roses that the model received.
