Offset Reunites with Dad after 23 Years Apart (Video)

Offset didn't hold back tears in a clip he shared revealing his emotional reunion with his father. He hasn't seen the man since he was four and last spoke to him in 2016.

It was a sweet, emotional reunion for Offset and his father who he hasn’t seen in 23 years.

Offset previously opened up about his lack of relationship with his father. The last time he saw him was when he was four.

GRASPING FOR HIS FATHER'S ATTENTION

In an interview with Charlamagne tha God on The Breakfast Club in February, Offset revealed speaking to his dad when the latter called him on his 12th birthday. His father vowed to see him but only to disappoint him when he never heard from his old man again until he turned 22. They last spoke in 2016. With the success he currently enjoys, the Migos singer even tried to offer his dad money but to no avail.

But in spite of these disappointments, Offset maintains he would be willing to reconcile with his father when the show’s host asked him about it.

“I got no beef with him,” he says.

THEIR TEARFUL REUNION, A DREAM COME TRUE

It seems that the interview struck a chord with his dad seeing he has now met up with his son. In an emotional clip Offset shared on his social media, father and son are wrapped in a tight embrace, one that buried all the pain and longing that coursed between them for more than two decades.

“DREAMS DO COME TRUE,” wrote the 27-year-old father-of-four. “HAVENT SEEN MY FATHER IN 23 YEARS !!!!!!” AND I STILL LOVE HIM,” he adds. For Offset, it doesn’t matter what happened then.

“THE PAST IS THE PAST AND THE PRESENT IS ALL WE HAVE TO RELY ON WE NOT PERFECT IN ANY SHAPE OR FORM I LOVE YOU POPS !!!NO MATTER WHAT!!!!”

The reunion appeared to occur outdoors with the singer dressed in black sweatpants and a t-shirt while his father was in jeans and a striped shirt. At one point during their hug, they release themselves to step back and shake hands utter pleasantries as tears flowed on their faces before resuming their embrace. In the end, Offset’s dad wipes the tears from his eyes.

A PLEASANT RESPITE

This pleasant encounter must be a welcome respite for Offset who was recently issued a warrant of arrest for his altercation with a fan at a Target store last week. The singer was accused of smashing the fan’s cellphone. It started when the fan tried to take a video of the singer inside the store which he didn’t appreciate. Offset reportedly smacked the phone out of the fan’s hand sending it crashing to the floor.

Apart from this warrant, Offset is also facing three other charges in relation to gun and marijuana possession and illegal lane changing all of which were filed in February.
