Kelly Clarkson Gives an Update after Having an Appendectomy
After hosting the BBMA for the second time in a row, American Singer/Television Personality, Kelly, underwent an appendicitis surgery.
Kelly arrived ready to give it her all as host of the 2019 Billboard Music Awards on Wednesday in Las Vegas.
The 37-year old had been suffering all week from an acute episode of appendicitis. A source revealed:
“Her team told producers ahead of the show during rehearsals and said that nothing will change, the show will go on, she will proceed as planned and she did do everything as planned.”
Without showing signs of discomfort, Kelly remarkably hosted the Billboard Awards and also performed two different songs, one of which is her new song "Broken and Beautiful" from the "UglyDolls" movie.
On Sunday, she revealed via her Twitter how ‘horrible’ she feels, saying:
“Quick recap... recovering after surgery super duper sucks. Turns out I don’t ‘rest’ well (so bored), pain meds make me feel a different kind of horrible 2 where I question if I’d just rather feel the pain instead, & 2 out of the 3 scars feel as if Lord Voldemort is always near.”
Clarkson went on to admit to her 12 million+ followers and fans on Twitter that Thursday afternoon that she was in pain during the show, flew straight to her home in Los Angeles after the event and had the procedure the following morning:
“Not gonna lie... I may or may not have broken down in tears after the show from pain BUT thanks 2 all the amazing people @ Cedars-Sinai I flew home directly after the event, nailed the surgery early this morning, & feeling awesome now! Bye bye appendix, #TheShowMustGoOn”.
Kelly, who was at home resting and struggling through recovery, still planned to be back to work on "The Voice" on Monday for the live show, having won the past two seasons of "The Voice" as a coach. She wasn’t joking when she once sang,
“what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.”
"The Voice" viewers not following Kelly on social media would have never known about her experience because she made it for the live show with a brave, smiling face and didn’t show that she was in any pain. Inevitably, some fans noticed she was featured less on Monday’s Episode, but that could’ve just been because her team was almost wiped out the previous Tuesday.
Well, at least with only two contestants in the top 13 (compared to her rival Blake Shelton’s six), Kelly had less to do, so didn’t have to exert herself too much this week.
She is set to host her talk show "The Kelly Clarkson Show" which will premiere on September 9.
