Thomas Markle Jr. expressed his delight after baby Sussex’s birth, which he hopes would be the start of mending fences between the estranged families.

Meghan’s brother congratulated his sister on the birth of her and Prince Harry’s firstborn during an exclusive interview with Sun Online. While he said to be over the moon for Meghan, Thomas Jr. also urged his 37-year-old sister to reach out to their father.

"Congratulations - I'm very happy for you both, and I hope this baby will bring you all the joy in the world. All newborn babies bring entire families happiness and joy - they can even bring broken families back together again," he said.

But he also had more serious words for Meghan as he added, "I'm hoping that becoming a mother will open up her eyes and shed light on what family means. Maybe she will see the importance of family now - and open up to my dad and let him be part of the baby's life.”

The 53-year-old also explained how the family had not had a new addition for a while, which made it a “big deal” to them as a family with everyone eager to meet baby Sussex and said:

"She should let the family come over and meet the new baby. I think everybody should be invited over to see the new baby. Hopefully, she won't be unfair and withhold him from everybody - I hope she'll reach out and make the baby a part of everybody's life."

Meanwhile, Thomas shared his pride at the arrival of his 7lbs 3oz grandson on May 6 at 5.26am with The Sun.

"I am proud that my new grandson is born into the British royal family and I am sure that he will grow up to serve the crown and the people of Britain with grace, dignity, and honor,” Thomas said.

He also extended his message to the first time parents and added, "God bless the child, and I wish him health and happiness, and my congratulations to my lovely daughter Duchess Meghan and Prince Harry, and God save the Queen."

However, Thomas Jr. revealed that he and his father had spoken about the baby’s arrival on numerous occasions over the last few weeks and the thought of never seeing his grandson, terrifies Thomas Sr.

"If he were to think he'd never be a part of the baby's life that would be horrible for him, it would really hurt his feelings a lot,” he said. "I seriously hope she gets a hold of him and personally calls him herself and sends him pictures right off the bat.”

According to Thomas Jr., Meghan would not be where she is today if it weren’t for their father, a man who “dedicated every moment of his life to her,” and deserving to be part of their baby’s life.

This is not the only time Thomas Jr. had spoke of his wishes for the families to reconcile. It has become somewhat of a new years resolution, as he told Daily Mail in January this year, "Starting out the New Year by bringing our family closer together is definitely on the to-do list — it's very important.”

During that interview, Thomas Jr. also revealed that he got engaged to his girlfriend, Darlene Blount and that they set their wedding date for March 2019. To facilitate some form of reconciliation, he invited his father and Meghan, along with Prince Harry to their wedding.

But with Meghan in later stages of pregnancy and royal duties to attend she did not make it across the pond.

While mum Doria is currently with Meghan, it's notable that the most vocal member of the Markle family to date hasn’t said anything after baby Sussex’s birth.

Meghan’s half-sister, Samantha Grant had openly shared her grievances and thoughts on social media since Prince Harry and Meghan started dating. But now she is the only member of the immediate family that had not spoken out.

Since Samantha has a few things of her own going on, her focus might be on getting her new book on the shelves.
