Amy Schumer Shares Candid Breast Pumping Photo After the Birth of Baby Gene
Amy Schumer, 37, posted a photo of herself using an automatic breast pump while wearing a nursing top, days after giving birth to her first child.
37-year-old Amy Schumer candidly posed for an all-out breast pumping photo which she posted on her Instagram account on Saturday. The picture showed the comedienne-actress wearing a strapless nursing top while using an automatic breast pump on both breasts.
The post came two weeks after she gave birth to her son, Gene Attell Fisher, who is also her first child with husband, Chris Fischer. She captioned the photo:
“Guys what are we doing tonight? #schumerpump #ootd.”
She did not conceal anything as part of her nipples were seen in the photo, which does not violate Instagram’s nudity rules, after the application lifted the policy for women breastfeeding.
Celebrities and friends commented on the photo, including Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi who said, “Lmao,” Andy Cohen, who repeated, “#OOTD,” and Stassi Schroeder who said, “An OOTD for the ages.”
Breastfeeding was once a sensitive topic after many women were shamed for publicly nursing their children. However, last year, feeding in public became legal in all 50 states. Hence mothers no longer need to be pressured to cover up while nursing.
“A woman may breastfeed in any place of public accommodation… irrespective of whether the woman’s breast is uncovered during or incidental to the breastfeeding,” read the initial law in Utah.
Sadly, there are still some mothers who face criticism when nursing in public. Ohio mom, Jennifer Mancuso was one of the many who faced difficulty for breastfeeding in a public place.
The director of a nursery school informed that she was offending other parents because seeing her nurse her child may be “inappropriate” for some children. Mancuso didn’t back down and pointed out Ohio’s Revised Code, allowing mothers to breastfeed in public places.
