Good Times' Star BernNadette Stanis Shared Photos of Lookalike Daughters & Granddaughter
Bern Nadette Stanis, the actress known for playing Thelma on the hit ‘70s sitcom “Good Times,” recently shared photos of her daughters and granddaughter, and we have to say, it’s totally adorable.
Stanis became a household name and fan-favorite playing the blunt, intelligent daughter in the Evans household, but now, over three decades after “Good Times” ended, Stanis is not only a mom to two grown women but also a doting grandma.
The Brooklyn beauty does not often appear on the screen anymore but continues to interact with fans via social media, where she also shares pictures of her family.
Stanis is no doubt proud of her girls, as she is of her four-year-old granddaughter.
This past Mother’s Day, Stanis paid tribute to “all Mothers and to Father’s who had to be Mothers to their children,” posting an adorable picture with her girls.
It’s difficult to miss the resemblance between Stanis and her daughters, despite the girls being the result of two different relationships.
The actress shares older daughter Dior, with her ex-husband Terrence Redd and younger daughter Brittany Rose, with her current spouse, Kevin Fontana.
37-year-old Dior, according to ILOSM, is an aspiring model and an author while Brittany, 24, is a Hampton University graduate in Molecular Biology currently pursuing another degree at Meharry Medical College.
Stanis is no doubt proud of her girls, as she is of her four-year-old granddaughter.
The actress took to Instagram last month to wish Leto Manon a happy birthday and shared a beautiful photo collage of the young lady striking various poses.
'Once she said that to me, it was a knife in my heart. How could she not remember what 'Good Times' did'
“Leto Manon, my granddaughter, celebrating her 4th birthday at the beach,” the 65-year-old wrote. “Happy Birthday, my hunnybee.”
Family means a lot to Stanis, who spent many years caring for her mother, Eula Stanislaus, who had Alzheimer’s disease.
Eula would eventually succumb to the disease in 2011, but Stanis continues to honor her mother’s memory with “The Good Times Foundation,” an organization that exists to raise awareness about dementia.
In a 2015 interview with the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, Stanis recalled how she came about the name for the foundation.
Stanis, who wrote the book “The Last Night: A Caregiver's Journey,” now travels the country and...
“My mother and I were watching the show ['Good Times'], and she looked at me, and she was watching Thelma. She said, 'You know, that's the cute little old girl,'” said the actress. “And I realized that she no longer remembered it was me, that I was Thelma. But somewhere in her brain, there was a connection, but she couldn't figure it out.”
Stanis continued:
“Once she said that to me, it was a knife in my heart. How could she not remember what 'Good Times' did for our family? It changed our whole lives...When she passed away, I knew I had to build a foundation and I had to call it Remembering The Good Times.”
According to the Sun-Sentinel, Stanis, who wrote the book “The Last Night: A Caregiver's Journey,” now travels the country and shares her story of caring for her mother.
