Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban's Parenting Arrangements Revealed in Divorce Filing
Once the picture of Hollywood romance, the exes now find themselves navigating a separation, with new court filings shedding light on how their family will move forward.
After nearly two decades of marriage, Nicole Kidman has filed for divorce from Keith Urban, marking the end of one of showbiz's most admired power couples. The filing, submitted in Nashville on September 30, also revealed how the couple intends to share parenting responsibilities for their two teenage daughters, Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 14.

Nicole to Keep the Girls – for 306 Days a Year
Court papers outline that Kidman will be the primary residential parent, a role she agreed to on September 6, while Urban signed off on the same plan on August 29.
Under this arrangement, the Oscar-winning actress will have custody of her daughters for 306 days of the year, compared to 59 days with their father.

The plan gives Kidman more than five times the time Urban will receive. Still, both parents pledged to remain involved in the big-picture decisions.
According to the filing, Kidman and Urban will jointly make all major choices concerning their daughters' lives.

No Monthly Support – and Strict Rules for Co-Parenting
When it comes to money, there will be no messy support battles. The documents note that neither will pay traditional monthly child support. Instead, they have established a private financial agreement, with Urban reportedly covering his obligations in advance.

Alongside the custody details, both Kidman and Urban have agreed to maintain a respectful co-parenting relationship. The exes will avoid negative remarks about one another and support their daughters' connections to both sides of the family.
They are also required to attend a mandatory parenting seminar within 60 days of the filing, ensuring a smoother transition for the children as the divorce process moves forward.

Living Separate Lives for Months
Kidman and Urban are said to have split long before the paperwork was filed, with multiple sources revealing the two have been living separate lives since early summer.
During that time, Nicole Kidman has been solely managing family life, caring for Sunday and Faith while continuing her professional commitments.

Meanwhile, Urban reportedly moved out of their shared home in Nashville, establishing a separate residence not far away — a move that quietly signaled the unraveling of their 18-year union.
A One-Sided Ending?
Urban and Kidman's breakup, according to insiders, was far from mutual. While Kidman was allegedly desperate to salvage the relationship, Urban is said to have emotionally checked out.
Sources close to the couple claim the actress made repeated efforts to hold onto the marriage, but Urban's personal struggles created an emotional chasm between them. "He has been making questionable choices for some time now, and this was not the case of them just drifting apart," an insider divulged.
A Whirlwind Beginning Ends in a Whisper
The couple's love story began like a Hollywood fairytale. They met in 2005 at a star-studded gala, sparking a whirlwind romance. The pair then held a lavish wedding in June 2006 at St. Patrick's Estate in Manly, one of Sydney's most iconic beachside venues.
The candlelit ceremony was deeply personal — Kidman's adopted children with ex-husband Tom Cruise, Bella and Connor, were both present, with Bella even serving in the bridal party.
From red carpets to raising daughters, their nearly two decades together were idolized by fans, making the unraveling of their marriage all the more heartbreaking.

'Inseparable' Summer Hints the Girls Knew All Along
Since insiders noted that Kidman and Keith Urban had been separated since the start of summer, it suggests their daughters were already aware while spending those months with their mother.
On August 19, the "Babygirl" actress shared a carousel of photos on Instagram highlighting her summer with Faith and Sunday.
The collection included moments from Sunday's birthday celebration, snapshots from family vacations, and a glimpse of their time together at a music festival.
According to those close to the family, the trio spent the entire season tightly knit. "While Keith has been away on tour all summer, Nicole and her daughters have been inseparable, spending time together bonding," one insider explained.
The source added that Kidman has since shifted her focus back to school routines in Nashville and preparing her girls for the year ahead. Kidman captioned her own post, "Summer memories ❤️ Now back to school ✨."
Sunday also reflected on the season, posting her own photos to Instagram as she adjusted back into student life after a carefree summer. Her post read, "Schools back so time to reminisce the vacay."
Now, as Faith and Sunday settle into a new school year, they are also stepping into a different chapter of their lives — one where their parents will be moving forward separately while continuing to share in their upbringing.
As we previously reported, fans had begun pointing out signs that all was not well in the Kidman–Urban marriage. In a move that has left them reeling, the country music star stirred controversy after changing the lyrics of his hit song "The Fighter" — a track famously written for Kidman — by inserting another woman's name in a bizarre and eyebrow-raising twist.

A Love Song Torn Apart on Stage
The alteration was heard in an Instagram post shared by Maggie Baugh, who performed with Urban. Originally penned as a deeply personal tribute to Kidman, "The Fighter" was long understood to be an emotional vow from the singer to his wife.
The original line sung as, "When they're tryin' to get to you. Baby, I'll be the fighter," was suddenly, and without warning, replaced with, "When they try to get to you, Maggie, I'll be your guitar player." The switch did more than confuse fans — it ignited full-blown suspicion.

Urban himself has always credited the song as a reflection of his bond with Kidman. He told fans back in 2018, "She liked it, I mean, it was such an easy song to write because it was born of real conversations Nick and I had had before we got married, and some of those fears that she had about it, and me wanting to be able to make vows to her — promises to her that I knew I could keep. You just need that chance, just give me a chance, you know."
He went even further, "In a lot of ways, the song feels like vows, you know, they think they're really oh this is what I promise I'll be and do, and I'll take care of you know keep the world away, and it was very easy to write from that perspective here."
Kidman's Tears and the Ghost of a Promise
Kidman herself once revealed the powerful emotional grip the song had on her. Speaking at the 2017 ACM Awards, she said, "I remember when he first played it for me. I started to cry […] he likes these things and they come out of, I don't know where. They are beautiful gifts. Then, I can't believe the success for [sic] the album now. It has been a long, long journey."
So it's no wonder that Urban's lyric swap sent a tidal wave of fury and heartbreak rippling through social media.

'Homewrecker' Claims and Fan Outrage Online
The Instagram clip exploded, drawing hundreds of shocked and outraged reactions. One person wrote, "OK, dumping Nicole is looking more suspect." Another added, "@a_sweet_life_always most definitely. She's been in his band for a year after he kicked out other long time members. Suspect for sure [sic]."
Things quickly got uglier, with one netizen claiming, "@sherylash It's so very obvious she stole him from Nicole.. Feel so sorry for Nicole.. He will dump her too when the party is over and he see [sic] the classy lady he is losing."

Another added with brutal bluntness, "@tracyahooper So he goes and sleeps with his guitar player and slaps Nicole in the face by changing the lyrics in a song he wrote for her to include the other woman?" And one devastated fan wrote, "You broke up Keith Urban and Nicole. Homewrecker 😜😄."
Some were convinced this was a textbook case of a midlife crisis unraveling in real time. "@calisun123 ya he's in his mid life crisis era. He dumped the classy, moving on to the trashy, and then he'll move on again. This kind of guy can't stand to be single. And he's looking more and more like his ego and macho-ness is in jeopardy [sic] 🙄🙄🙄," one person claimed.
A Song That Was Meant to Shield Her from the World
Urban has yet to address the storm head-on, but his past words only deepen the sting. In 2017, he told Entertainment Tonight, "It's a song about protecting the one you love, so that they don't have to take the blows of the world, and can stay pure. I try [to do that for my wife] every day."
Now, with the name Maggie suddenly being used in the hallowed lyrics, fans are wondering: Is the vow broken? Is the love lost?
