Lyssa Chapman Slammed by Fans as She Tries to Justify Herself Amid Feud with Beth
Lyssa Chapman and her stepmother Beth Chapman are hashing it out on Twitter and it looks like fans have picked a side. It all started with a Mother's Day fall out.
On Thursday, Beth Chapman, 51, took to Twitter to call out Lyssa, 31, for ignoring her on Mother's Day and not informing her and husband Duane Chapman about their granddaughter's graduation.
As soon as she started, Chapman was encouraged by fans to keep the fight off social media. However, Chapman said that Lyssa was ignoring her calls and had blocked her through messaging.
In response, Lyssa denied the blocking claim, said that she indeed sent a Mother's Day message, and pointed to Beth's absence from Hawaii as confirmation that she never planned on attending daughter Abbie's graduation.
Beth said it was Maddie who texted her, not Lyssa, and that she would have made sure to be there had she known when the graduation was. "You're [sic] not off the hook Lyssa," she said.
Lyssa tried to explain:
"I have been so busy being a mom; celebrating, supporting and loving my daughter on the eve of her graduation, I haven’t had time to respond to you. @MrsdogC. You know you’re not blocked. I spoke to dad yesterday."
Fans were not so understanding of Lyssa's excuse though. One Twitter user called her selfish, asking why she couldn't just "spare a few seconds to text [Beth] or pick up the phone."
Another person named Jill Maleson wrote:
"Cutting her off from her grandchild graduation at this time and place is beyond hurtful. I regret that you are going to rue this time in your life Lyssa. It'll be too late."
She was referencing Beth's current situation in battling throat cancer. Like others, she called out Lyssa for not keeping in mind that Beth could not be with them in the near future.
An overwhelming number of people continued to criticize both women for airing what they believe should have been a private conversation on Twitter for the world to see and judge.
According to Hollywood Life, a source said that Beth is big on family and she was heartbroken by the exclusion. Still, Lyssa encouraged her stepmother to "focus on the good things." She said she would not "battle with [Beth] ever again."
Some good news for Lyssa came the next day when charges for drunk driving and disorderly conduct in Hawaii were dropped against her. The charges arose from an October 2018 incident.
At the time, police pulled Lyssa over and said they immediately smelled a strong odor of alcohol. Lyssa also had bloodshot watery eyes according to the officer who pulled her over.
Duane "The Dog" Chapman, the famous televised bounty hunter, shares Lyssa with his third wife, Lyssa Rae Brittain. The two were married from 1982 to 1991. Meanwhile, Duane and Beth share only two children together.
Last year, Lyssa shared an adorable photograph of her then-15-year-old daughter Abbie as she prepared to go to prom. The teen wore a long pink dress that featured a lace-trimmed bodice.
“My baby off to #juniorprom,” Lyssa wrote in the caption. She was herself a baby when she gave birth to Abbie at just 15 years old. The 24-year-old man involved was later arrested.
Lyssa herself has been in and out of trouble with the law. In 2011, she was taken to jail for property damage and police assault. She was married two years prior before divorcing. She is now with her soulmate Leiana Evensen.
