Here's How Kim Fields' Mom Chip Became Famous before Her Memorable 'Good Times' Role

American entertainer, Chip Fields was first known for her vocals before gaining more momentum in Hollywood.

Although Fields is renowned for her role in the 1970's sitcom, “Good Times,” her career as an entertainer stemmed from music.

Chips Fields tried her hands on music when she joned the music band, “Ronnie and the Ronettes.” Fields jbecame a member of the group in 1971 after Ronnie Spector recruited her and Diane Linton.

Not long after, the singer landed her first acting gig as an extra in “Claudine” in 1974. Following this, the late '70s became favorable for Chips as she took on more movie roles such as “Days of Our Lives,” “Rhoda,” “What’s Happening,” and “The Parker’s” among others.

As she became more prominent in the acting industry, Fields went farther from music. She finally left the group in the late '70s. Chip’s role in “Good Times” made her even more acclaimed and helped boost her daughters,’ Kim and Alexis career as they later joined Hollywood.

The on-screen star enjoyed a great career span well into the '80s and '90s. Recently, Chip sat with star host, Steve Harvey along with her celebrity daughters, Alexis and Kim Fields on “Celebrity Family Feud.”

The 67-year-old actress became goofy when Harvey asked her for a suggestive name a stripper could bear. “Chocolate Chips,” Fields answered without hesitation. This got Steve and her daughters in an uproar as they did not expect her answer.

The mom-of-two seems to enjoy a healthy relationship with her girls as Kim Fields took to her Instagram page to celebrate Chip on Mother’s Day. The “Living Single” actress posted a throwback picture collage of herself, and Chip and gushed over her mom in her caption.

Chips is a proud mom who was able to bring her daughters to limelight successfully, and the trio has recorded a thriving acting career. While Alexis Fields has starred in movies including “Moesha” and “Sister Sister,” Kim Fields landed roles in “Facts of Life” and “Living Single” and so on.

The actress was also a reality star on the “Real Housewives of Atlanta.” Among other achievements, Kim and Chip Fields are the first mother-daughter duo to co-direct two different TV series.
