Marlon Wayans Praises Tyrese’s Wife after Video of Her Surprise John Singleton Tribute
Tyrese Gibson's wife, Samantha, earned the praise of people all over social media after the actor revealed a surprise she prepared for him to help him cope with John Singleton’s passing. Among those who took the time to appreciate Samantha’s efforts, was actor Marlon Wayans.
Tyrese Gibson—like many other actors who worked with John Singleton—was deeply affected by the director’s sudden death last April.
Gibson’s first role in a movie was on Singleton’s film “Baby Boy,” and the actor had built a strong friendship over the years with Singleton. He had even asked the man to be the godfather of his daughter Soraya a few months ago.
A THOUGHTFUL SURPRISE
Trying to help Tyrese cope with Singleton’s death, his wife Samantha decided to surprise him with a thoughtful and heartfelt surprise that not only left Gibson speechless but also earned Samantha the praise of people all over Instagram.
In a video shared by Tyrese, Samantha can be heard recording a special she decorated with framed movie posters and photos of her husband and Singleton. She also added an oil painting made especially for the room, as she explained to Tyrese:
“Hey papi, I’ve got a surprise for you. As you know, we collectively decided to dedicate this suite to John because this is the suite he always stayed in when he came to Atlanta…this is where he always was- his layer. So, we wanted this room to be his.”
“I was told not to go downstairs ... I have no words,” Tyrese captioned the clip.
FANS AND FRIENDS REACT
Fans and friends were quick to fill the comment section gushing about Samantha’s work and dedication to make Tyrese feel better.
Marlon Wayans, a fellow actor, and comedian wrote: “You got a beautiful, wonderful, thoughtful queen.”

“When a Man finds a Wife, it is a good thing... it’s the little things, the thoughtful things that matter... she is a keeper. May God continue to bless your Union.”
GIBSON AND SINGLETON’S DEEP BOND
Gibson has been open about his feelings on Singleton’s death. He has dedicated paragraphs filled with love and admiration for the late director on Instagram, and after his funeral, he even visited the neighborhood where “Baby Boy” was filmed, reminiscing about all the good moments they had together.
“Thank you, John Singleton, for deciding that you had a problem with the state of black Hollywood and going above and beyond to change it..... Honored that I was one of the people you chose to take with you on this journey,” Gibson captioned one of his many posts dedicated to the director.
And continued:
“You left us with SO MUCH!!!!!!! As your TRIBE, we will march on to the best of your drum and keep the integrity of what you stood for in our hearts and intentions... I’m on the plane headed back to London you will live on in our hearts and souls forever and ever.”
