From the moment a friend offered McCarthy a baby grand piano, the house's transformation began in earnest. "It went from piano to couch to chairs to rugs, and then it just traveled from room to room to room," she said.

Each addition brought them closer to the home they envisioned. In time, the house began to feel like a sanctuary.
