Fantasia was only 17 when she had Zion and despite her bitter past with her daughter’s father, it didn’t keep both parents from attending the special occasion.

Fantasia accused Brandel of being abusive and he pled guilty to choking and beating her.

Fantasia’s issues with Brandel go way back. They were high school sweethearts who split shortly after Zion’s birth. Fantasia accused Brandel of being abusive and he pled guilty to choking and beating her.

In 2013, their paths crossed again after Brandel challenged Fantasia to a custody battle. This prompted the singer to demand child support, something she never received from Brandel since Zion’s birth. It’s unclear how that battle ended but if Zion’s graduation was an indication, they must have arrived at an amicable agreement.
