Tori Spelling’s Husband Dean McDermott Regrets Cheating on Her
Actor Dean McDermott said he "felt bad" about himself when he cheated on his wife, Tori Spelling.
On the first episode of the "Daddy Issues" podcast with co-hosts Adam Hunter and Nicky Paris, McDermott, 52, reflected on his headline-making affair.
"I felt so bad about myself, I felt like a piece of s**t, I needed to do that to feel some kind of power."
The "Due South" actor opened up about why he once cheated on Spelling, 46.
"I've been there. I've cheated and it's so not about the person you're with," he explained. "In this particular case, it happened to be or that's her excuse, I think there might be more wrong with the marriage than him not going down on her."
McDermott added that his reasoning for having an affair wasn't about his wife; it was about the "inadequacies" with himself.
"I felt so bad about myself, I felt like a piece of s**t, I needed to do that to feel some kind of power," he continued.
The actor then recalled the story about his affair breaking on Christmas Eve six years ago. At the time, numerous media outlets reported that he cheated on his wife with actress Emily Goodhand, while they were both on location shooting "Chopped Canada."
McDermott said, "A friend sold the story. It came out through the publicist to both of us at the same time. It was horrible, and I'm an a**hole piece of s**t for doing it. That was a rough Christmas, but we came out through the other end."
The actor now guaranteed that their relationship is better than anyone might have expected.
In 2005, the couple met on the set of a made-for-TV movie in Ottawa, Canada. They were both married to other people at the time.
McDermott and Spelling tied the knot in a private ceremony in Wakaya, Fiji, in 2006. They renewed their vows in 2010 in Beverly Hills.
The pair have five children — Liam Aaron, Finn Davey, Beau Dean, Stella Doreen, and Hattie Margaret.
