Anna Duggar Reveals Sex of Her Baby #6 with a Touching Family Video

In April, Anna Duggar and her husband announced that they were expecting a sixth child together! On Thursday, the couple posted a video on social media revealing the child’s gender.

Anna, 30, and Josh Duggar, 31, took to Instagram to share an adorable video of the moment they learned the sex of their baby. The pair made the announcement by including their children.

For this occasion, a gender reveal cake was used. One of their children was seen pouring water tentatively into the cake until it spewed a pink substance that signified they were having a baby girl.

The reality star’s children could be seen celebrating the revelation with one child confessing that she thought her next sibling would be a boy. In the caption of the post, Anna shared that the little girl’s due date was sometime in the fall.

WHERE THE CAKE GENDER REVEAL TRADITION BEGAN

She also explained that she and her husband started using cakes to announce their children’s genders after his late grandmother Mary Duggar suggested it. The family sadly lost Mary, 78, on June 9 after she accidentally drowned in a swimming pool.

The 19 Kids and Counting star shared that she was reminded of the tradition after her sister Jessa Duggar sent her an article that mentioned their first gender reveal. Anna and her husband share Mackynzie, 9; Michael, 7; Marcus, 5; Meredith, 3; and Mason, 2.

IT STARTED WITH THEIR FIRST CHILD

The first gender reveal cake was baked 10 years ago by Cake Boss star Buddy Valastro. The parents who were expecting Mackynzie at the time got to cut their cake with Meredith Vieira in New York City on the Today show.

Anna ended her lengthy caption by writing:

“With Grandma’s passing last week, this 6th gender reveal is a reminder of her love — I’m so glad we were able to share the news of our third little girl with Great-Grandma before she went to be with Jesus! #littleduggars.”

THE COUPLE'S PAST UPS AND DOWNS

The Counting On stars were married in September 2008. Over the past 10 years, the couple has had some troubles in their marriage.

In 2015, they were hit with a cheating scandal and Josh had to extend his stay at a faith-based rehabilitation center. The couple then went into marriage counseling.

In March 2017, they announced that they were expecting their fifth child.

Anna’s April announcement of their pregnancy read:

“We are so excited to announce that we are expecting a new little one! As we watch our children grow and thrive — we look forward to baby six joining us this fall! #littleduggars.”

The two clips showed the family laying out letters that spelled: “New baby coming this fall.”
