Carrie Underwood Reveals Her Love Story
Country music star Carrie Underwood has shared intimate details about her happy marriage.
The “Cry Pretty” songstress only has good words for Mike Fisher, her husband of nine years, in an interview with PEOPLE.
“[Isaiah] told me recently that when the new baby comes that Daddy could have that baby and then he could be mine.”
“I feel like he is the person I was meant to be with,” the 36-year-old singer said. "I had dated guys and kind of knew, like, ‘No.’ Nothing was ever really wrong, but nothing was really right either. With him, it was like a good partnership. It was an easy relationship to be in.”
They met in 2008 when Fisher, a Canadian hockey star, attended one of her shows. On their first date, Underwood quickly sensed that Fisher was completely different from all the men she dated in the past.
They exchanged vows in 2010 in Georgia, surrounded by pink flowers and 5,000 sparkling crystals.
GROWING FAMILY
The pair welcomed their first son, Isaiah, in 2015. Their second son, Jacob, arrived in January this year.
But expanding their family didn’t happen without challenges. Underwood had suffered three miscarriages in less than two years.
She revealed how she got through these heartbreaks with her husband’s love and patience.
“He is so levelheaded about everything, and when I was dealing with everything, not just emotionally but hormonally, when you’re going on that roller coaster of pregnant, not pregnant, pregnant, not pregnant, I was probably not very easy to love, to be honest,” she said. “And to have somebody so even-keeled, he was my lifeline, keeping me grounded.”
LAUGHTER-FILLED FAMILY
Fisher also admires his wife as much. He said, “Carrie’s so easy to love because she’s down to earth and genuine. We laugh a lot, which I think is important.”
One hilarious family scenario was when Carrie was still pregnant with Jacob. She revealed that Isaiah had jealous thoughts about his then brother-to-be.
“[Isaiah] told me recently that when the new baby comes that Daddy could have that baby and then he could be mine,” she shared.
She wondered whether her upcoming child will be a “daddy’s” boy.
“Maybe this next one will be all Mike’s. Maybe that will be how it works out. Mike needs some love too. I feel bad for him sometimes,” she joked.
