John Amos Shared Photo with Rarely-Seen Son & the Resemblance Is Uncanny
John Amos, better known for bringing James Evans to life in the ‘70s sitcom “Good Times,” recently shared a photo with his rarely-seen son K.C Amos, and fans couldn’t help but point out their uncanny resemblance.
John Amos is the proud father of two grown-up children, his daughter Shannon is a producer and lifestyle influencer, while his son Kelly Christopher Amos, is a director, actor, and producer that credits his passion for the entertainment industry to grow up with a famous dad.
Amos celebrated Father’s Day with both of his kids, but it was his photo with K.C that left fans in awe of the pair’s striking resemblance and good genes.
In the shot, shared by John on Instagram, K.C is rocking a white sweater, while his dad donned a white t-shirt and glasses and both gave similar smiles to the camera.
“Always a great time with my son! Happy Father’s Day to you all! -J.A,” John captioned the pic.
FANS’ WORDS OF ADMIRATION
Fans of the actor took over his comment section to wish him a Happy Father’s Day back, and to point out how handsome both men are.
“Twins. Wow, he is the official Little John. Lol. Happy Fathers Day To Americas Pops” wrote one user.
And another raved,
"You were like a father to all of us watching you on TV back in the 80s. Thank you for being the strong father we needed to see back then . Too bad we don’t have someone like that on TV now. Happy Father’s Day sir."
GROWING UP AS JOHN AMOS’ SON
K.C is indeed very proud of his father, as he revealed in a blog post written for Black America Web in 2014.
Although Amos, now 79, has a vast catalog of roles in both movies and television, his role as James Evans in “Good Times” made a difference among the African American community, setting an example as the no-nonsense dad that sadly, was cut off from the show when Amos became too opinionated about the direction the show was taking.
For K.C, growing up watching his dad being a father on the screen while comparing his real-life experience in the coziness of their home, was a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
“One word comes to mind when I think about him and his role in my life. Inspiration,” K.C wrote of Amos.
And continued:
“I saw that his role was more than a job; that he was actually helping people through his role as a strong father dedicated to mentoring his TV kids. There were life lessons learned in each weekly episode. It was amazing to watch the show become a hit series, changing the face of television sitcoms, particularly in terms of shows that depicted African-American families.”
FOLLOWING HIS EXAMPLE
K.C went on to reveal that following Amos example was what led him to discover his passion for working behind the cameras.
“I would have to say that the most amazing thing about my dad as a father is that he has taught me to discover my passion, develop it, and give it back in a way that will hopefully make a difference to the lives of others. For that, he is my hero,” K.C concluded.
John Amos’ career is still soaring. He recently made an appearance on HBO’s “Ballers” and is set to appear in two new films currently in pre-production, according to his IMDB page.
