Austin Butler Reportedly Set to Play Elvis Presley in a New Film about the Legend's Life

It's an opportunity of a lifetime for Austin Butler as he nabs a major role in Baz Luhrmann's new movie on the life of the 'King of Rock and Roll'.

27-year-old Austin Butler has landed one of the biggest roles in his acting career, and was excited to tell the world about it.

"You have made my life complete, and I love you so."

Those were the words that followed Austin's

post, which featured a picture of himself and Elvis Presley.

Of course, the statement isn't so surprising as the image was accompanied by a headline which disclosed that Baz Luhrmann was setting him in a star-making role.

Thanks to Baz, Austin is to take on the act of Icon, Elvis Presley, alongside A-list star, Tom Hanks in a biopic about the legendary singer.

Baz announced the big news with a tweet of a photo of Elvis' famous mugshot alongside a picture of Austin.

The 27-year-old who started his professional acting career in the early 2000s in Nickelodeon and Disney was chosen from a list of highly-rated young actors. This list included Ansel Elgort, Miles Teller, Aaron Taylor-Johnson and even singer, Harry Styles.

The movie which is set to put Austin's name among the list of Hollywood's biggest stars is based on Elvis' complicated relationship with his manager Parker, who is portrayed as successful but yet 'controlling'.

Parker is to be played by Tom Hanks, and reports have revealed that the shooting for the movie has begun in Queensland, Australia already.

The charming actor was born on August 17, 1991, and picked up his on-screen career as soon as the early 2000s.

He featured on famous Nickelodeon and Disney shows like "Hannah Montana," "Wizards of Waverly Place," "ICarly" and a few others.

Career

Following a successful stint at the teenage shows, Austin starred as Sebastián Kydd in "The Carrie Diaries." The series was short-lived.

However, he landed a new role alongside Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt in "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood."
