Grace Kelly's Grandson Louis Ducruet Gets Married to College Sweetheart Marie Chevallier in a Two-Day Monaco Wedding
Grace Kelly's grandson, Louis Ducruet marries college sweetheart, Marie Chevallier, during a two day royal wedding. The bride wowed audiences with three outfit changes that encompassed both modern and traditional designs.
Louis Ducruet, the grandson of legendary Hollywood actress, Grace Kelly, married his high school sweetheart during a lavish two-day wedding in Monaco. On July 26, Ducruet and his bride, Marie Chevallier began their wedding with a civil ceremony and reception at the gardens of Prince’s Place.
The wedding continued the following day with the couple paying tribute to Ducruet’s grandparents, by marrying at the Cathedral of Our Lady Immaculate. The Cathedral is the same venue Grace Kelly and Prince Rainier III married in 1956.
Her first gown was designed by Rosa Clara; a jumpsuit, with a lace accent across her waist. The designer took to Instagram to congratulate the couple and proudly displayed the piece worn by the bride.

Our designer Rosa Clará designed Marie Chevallier's wedding dress for her civil ceremony with Louis Ducruet, in Monaco. She chose a sophisticated, weightless silk crepe culotte jumpsuit with embroidered lace at the waist. The sleeveless design features a discrete V-neckline and an exquisite open back, to marry her love, Louis Ducruet! We can’t feel any prouder of taking part in this memorable day, thank you so much for trusting in us and for believing in our values. You looked outstanding! __ ¡Espectacular boda real! __ Special thank you to Bruno Bebert for this beautiful picture! __ #RosaClara #RosaClaraCouture #RoyalWedding #Monaco #BridalFashion
On the second day, Chevallier’s cathedral dress was made of silk and lace, giving it a more traditional appeal. The dress designer, Atelier Boisanger noted that this creation took over 300 hours to compete. The flow of the lace and embroidery captured the royal sophistication embodied by Kelly over fifty years ago.

While the wedding may have been luxurious and over the top, the well wishes from family, friends and designers seem to capture the humble nature of the young royals. In a touching Instagram post that included pictures of Ducruet and his bride he thanked his family and friends for sharing the special moment with him, which read:
“Wonderful moments surrounded by the love of our family and friends, three days of celebrations thank you all for your wishes of happiness…I love you @mariehoachevallier”
Family legacy plays a significant role in the lives of Monaco's young royals. According to The Monaco Matin, the couple honoured Ducruet’s late grandparents by placing flowers on their graves. Similarly, Kelly’s granddaughter, Charlotte Casiraghi who wed Dimitri Rassam on June 2019 also paid homage to her famous grandparents. On her wedding she wore a diamond necklace gifted to Kelly on her wedding day.
