Marlo Thomas Shares Throwback Photo with Husband Phil Donahue Taken Almost 40 Years Ago

Famous "That Girl" star, Marlo Thomas recently posted a special picture of herself and her longtime husband, Phil Donahue. Thanks to its rarity, the image has become a fan favorite.

Marlo shared the picture via her Instagram feed on July 25. The dated shot quickly became popular online; so far, it has amassed thousands of likes as well as comments.

The reason for this couldn't be more evident considering that the picture makes devoted fans of the couple take a walk down memory lane.

Marlo and Phil tied the knot way back in 1980, and despite being notable celebrities, they have managed to keep their marriage healthy. Heartfelt displays like Marlo's isn't new when it comes to this pair, but it still manages to leave fans in awe of the beautiful couple.

Soon after Marlo shared this throwback picture, fans took to the comment section to compliment the stunning display. A significant few recalled watching Phil's "Free to Be," while many just shared sweet words about Marlo and Phil's long-standing relationship.

While speaking at "50 Over 50," a luncheon sponsored by "Good Housekeeping" and L'Oréal Paris to honor inspiring women over 50, Thomas revealed the secret to their successful marriage.

Marlo:

"I was always offering my husband advice, and after about 10 years, he finally said to me, 'I don't want you to tell me what to do, I just want you to listen.'"

Marlo pushed that if you listen, you attain a higher level of intimacy with your partner; her relationship with Donahue is proof of the viability of her words.
