HOW THE RUMOR STARTED

Both sides traded accusations and other negative words until Wednesday when the “Told Y'all” rapper finally addressed the situation in an Instagram Live session.

The rumors started after the head of A&R at Trina’s Rockstarr Music Group label, Reginald Saunders, accused Nicki of being a “deceiver” and a “manipulator.”

THE AFTERMATH

Saunders’ grouse with the “Anaconda” rapper stemmed from the fact that she allegedly did not promote “BAPS,” a track on Trina’s June 2019 album where she featured Nicki.

By the time Trina finally decided to shut down the rumors on Wednesday, the Twitter back-and-forth had degenerated into a messy situation, with some fans going as far as dragging in another female rapper Cardi B.

Nicki and Cardi are known not to be the best of friends and even had that infamous fight last September. Fans of both rappers have been at loggerheads since then, so when the Trina-Nicki rumors surfaced, Cardi fans naturally picked a side.

TRINA'S REACTION

Things took a different turn after Trina took the blame for the mess and insisted that there is no bad blood between her and Nicki.

“There is no beef between me and Nicki Minaj. There will be no disrespect for Nicki Minaj or nobody else that’s on my album,” she said. “I don't play those games at all. Period. Everybody knows that.”

SOCIAL MEDIA GOES WILD

The “Pull Over” rapper’s comments sparked reactions from Twitter users, most of who were impressed by her maturity and humility.

“Everybody should move like Trina,” one person said while another observed:

“Half the Internet waited for Trina to get online to drag Nicki Minaj based on a rumor... and lost. ‘There is no beef with Nicki Minaj.’ ya'll really hate that girl lol”

There was also an abundance of memes and GIFs. “Y’all thought Trina was about to get on live and join the Nicki Minaj Hate Train,” a Twitter user wrote alongside a clip of a girl laughing mockingly.

Another user suggested that Nicki fans (called the Barbs) had been ready to call out Trina before they heard her comments on the Live session. The tweeter shared a video of a woman using a computer and captioned it:

“BardiGang When Trina Said ‘There’s is no Beef between Me and Nicki Minaj,’” tweeted another with the GIF of a much-younger Denzel Washington hitting the table in disappointment.

Nicki is yet to react to Trina’s take on the feud rumors, but her fans seem to have it covered.
