Serena Williams Says Sister Venus Is Great Auntie to Olympia after US Open Win over Maria Sharapova
Serena Williams is currently busy with the US Open, but that doesn't mean she doesn't have time to talk about other things. During a recent interview, she reveals how her sister Venus is a "great" auntie to daughter Olympia.
Taking a quick breather from this year's US Open, Serena Williams attends the 2019 Palace Invitational at Lotte New York Palace. When asked what Venus is like as an auntie, she reveals that her sister is "great."
Raising Olympia Together
"She's great. None of us grew up! We're all just a bunch of kids having fun."
Through it all, Serena is glad to still have the same relationship with her sister even after having a child.
"I feel like things should have changed more. Our relationship was already spectacular, so nothing had to change."
Dominating the US Open
Her appearance comes after her stunning debut at this year's US Open, where she defeated her long-time rival Maria Sharapova in straight sets.
Returning to the Arthur Ashe Stadium with a vengeance was Serena Williams, who claimed she was "robbed" of her chance at winning the US Open trophy last year after getting three different penalties from the match umpire.
For her first match at this year's tournament, she made sure not to make room for her long-time rival to advance. She won the match in straight sets, hammering yet another win against Maria, who only beat Williams twice in their 22 meetings through the years.
Serena's US Open Comeback
What was different, though, was that this was their first meeting ever at the US Open, and Serena crushed it.
Serena Williams' comeback is filled with a lot of motivation, as she is eyeing for her 24th Grand Slam trophy. Last year, she was a match short of claiming the trophy after losing to Naomi Osaka in the championship round.
