Steve Harvey's personal branding has remained the same through the years, with the renowned host always wearing suits whenever he's on television. It's been the same for more than three decades, and now he shares why.

While Steve Harvey's signature look made it easier for people to recognize him through the years, his "Kings of Comedy" co-star D.L. Hughley once revealed he hasn't always been a fan of it. In fact, Hughley calls his classic attire as a "three-piece uniform."

According to Harvey, his "three-piece uniform" was to give his audiences something good to look at while he made them laugh through his jokes. He adds that it was to make up for the lack of cuteness in the group.

Answering D.L. Hughley's Question

On the latest segment of his online show, "Rolling with Steve Harvey," he explained that his mom used to always remind him that every woman likes a well-dressed man.

He adds that he already passed on the advice to Hughley, Cedric the Entertainer, and the late Bernie Mac.

However, Hughley was hilariously opposed to this thought through the years, and Harvey shared his response when his friend asked him to explain his apparent suit obsession.

"The first year we did Kings of Comedy, they didn't wear suits, I'm the only one who wore suits. D.L. used to say, 'Man, why you wear a suit all the time?' I don't know no other way to be, dog. People paying all this money to see us, might as well give 'em something to look at."

Giving Audiences a Sight to See

Harvey adds that his "three-piece uniform" was to give his audiences something good to look at while he made them laugh through his jokes. He adds that it was to make up for the lack of cuteness in the group.

"Hell, we ain't cute. The Kings of Comedy wasn't no pretty group. We was funny as hell, but we was not an attractive bunch. You just have to know that. If you ain't cute, you ain't cute. You just gotta come to that [expletive]."

Now that he's been wearing suits every day for more than three decades now, Harvey makes sure not to wear it whenever he's not working.

On rare special occasions, he agrees to wear matching outfits with his lovely wife, Marjorie Harvey as well.

In fact, last Christmas, the pair donned matching sweaters as they wished their fans a Merry Christmas.

With more free time on his hands, fans can expect to see Harvey without his suit more often. Instead, they'll be in for more treats as he shows off his collection of luxury designerwear.
